First, I'd like to make a note to other reviewers and follow up readers who are leaving this establishment 1 star due to their rules in regards to not allowing outside food inside their premises. This is due to safety reasons of not wanting to cross contaminate. This keeps their gluten-free customers safe. It is rare for coeliacs to find an establishment that caters just for them. All food in this establishment is gluten-free. Now for the actual food. I enjoyed their apple crumble. The crust was not too hard, and the crumble was delicious. The coffee, was unfortunately a letdown. It wasn't hot, but lukewarm, and wasn't very flavoursome. It didn't really have a "coffee" smell or taste. Perhaps they didn't put enough coffee. I don't know, but I didn't enjoy it. Had the coffee been good and was served hot, I would have given this place a higher review. Customer service was average, and a smile does go a long way in customer service. The cafe was clean, had plenty of tables, and had great lighting. Personally, I do not suffer from coeliac, but I wanted to try gluten-free products and see how good a product could be without gluten. And on that note, I'd have to say it was pretty good. If you handed me a regular apple crumble and a GF apple crumble, it would be hard to tell the difference, and that right there is the key, when making GF products, making them taste as close or better than the original.

I came to Wholegreen Bakery today for the first time after being recommended by a friend. Some of my family members are coeliacs, so we were really excited at the idea of a gluten-free bakery. When we arrived, we were really impressed by the range of baked goods at the store. Being lactose intolerant, I was also surprised to see so many dairy free options. My mum has been a coeliac her whole life, and she said she's so grateful to finally have choice when it comes to baked goods and breads. Not only were we amazed by the range, but everything is so delicious! I had the chocolate croissant and my mum had the apple slice. We also purchased a vegetarian quiche for my younger sister (also a coeliac) to eat later, which she loved. The staff were also super kind and helpful! It's not often you meet people who are so passionate about the food and coffee they sell, so we were really thankful to the guy who served us, as he made helpful recommendations and was really knowledgeable about the product. (Sorry we didn't catch your name!) Between the high quality (and delicious) products and incredibly knowledgeable and friendly staff, I would 100% recommend coming here.

I’ve been in this branch 3 times and service by the counter staff got worse and worse. The girl with an accent is so rude, she tries to initiate a fight instead of listening to the customer. We had pies and teas dine in, and I ordered a choc eclair and choc cake to go. She put the eclair in a small open container (that’s fine) but then tried to put the container in a paper bag!!! I asked her to remove the paper bag and cover the cakes with another container (the small open box kinda thing) Common sense right!!! She rolled her eyes over and looked up!!! So rude !!! The chocolate covering of the eclair was removed by the paper of course, and then she said ‘Yeah look that’s why I didn’t want to change it’ !!! That’s exactly why I asked her to put another container on top instead of covering it with a paper. If she didn’t change it I would go home and would have my eclair exactly like this ‘without the chocolate coating’!!! At the end of the day, service is TERRIBLE, so so rude, it’s so expensive and pies we had were so oily, croissant was so buttery and wasnt fresh. Not planning going again any time soon !!

As someone who understands business, especially small business, I can tell you that one of the key factors to a business's success is their relationships with other businesses. Especially when the other business is the main supplier of another business's customers. Something THIS business clearly doesn't understand. They are happy to take Alliance Francaise's customers, who likely make up 90% of their customers in the first place, but will give zero back. Zero collaboration. They insist that Alliance Francaise customers must eat their food, even though we generate a significant revenue for this place just with drinks, or they kick us out. Moreso, their menu is not inclusive of other diets, offering ONLY GF products, which are overpriced and don't taste good. I should emphasise, and this is important to note, this cafe shares the same floor space as Alliance. In fact, Alliance is the first business customers see when they come in. There is no other space for students to eat their food, no cafeteria, so we are forced to go to this cafe. Most of us can't afford this cafe's product or just don't eat GF food. The cafe makes zero effort to be inclusive to other customers' dietary needs. Staff are also frequently rude, and often get your coffee order wrong. I question the ethics and integrity of this place, because what kind of business is happy to take another business's customers (who likely make up 90% of the cafe's customers), but will give nothing in return. I've worked with small business before. A good and ethical business understands what a two-way partnership is and arranges mutually beneficial deals. A good business does not take all, and give nothing back. ESG practices are not only about providing sustainable product, the 'social' element is about giving respect and kindness to customers, and also...

I've been eating at this bakery for years.. Here is a run down.. Really glad they brought back the carrot cake.. It's delicious but since changing it from a rectangle shape to a square it seems to be a lot drier. The passionfruit sponge is the best ever.. Never, never take it away!! As a chocolate lover nothing compares to the chocolate/beetroot cake they used to have. And their current chocolate/raspberry brownies are the worst I've ever had they taste like they come from a packet from woolies.. Which is such a shame as some years back they had the most decadent chocolate brownies. Have never been a fan of the croissants they are dense and taste like you are just eating butter. However, the cinnamon scrolls are sooooooo gooood.. But they definitely tasted better crispier.. Light, crispy pastry is a Coeliac's dream (we are used to soft/dense food) and really not a fan of cinnamon and custard together. I still enjoy the new version but not nearly as much as the old one. Please bring back blueberry danishes. Blueberry or raspberry muffins coming back would also be amazing as they do a really good muffin. On to the savoury.. I'm not a pie/sausage roll girl so can not comment...But the chicken sandwich is soooo delicioussssss and so were the roast vegetable sandwichs unfortunately they have been replaced with a boring salad sandwich. And there sourdough bread and bread rolls...
