We had previously been to Zebra Lounge and had a lovely lunch and good service. When we arrived today a little man demanded to know why we were there without a reservation. No welcome greeting and sorry tables are tight. Just open hostility. There were several tables within sight that we pointed out that weren't reserved, he walked us to a table, didn't utter a single word. lucky for him he didn't bother us again. We then sat for 15 minutes waiting for someone to take a drinks order. The staff was rude, lazy and nasty. At one point someone literally flung a reservation sign on the table, she stood away from the table and tossed it, TOSSED IT between me and my niece, it skidded across the table to rest on an angle on the salt shaker. She was lucky I didn't throw it at her retreating back! The only person asked us if we were okay was the owner/chef who also cleared our table. We had food dumped in the middle of the table, up to us to sort it out. Wine glass with lipstick on the rim. Asked for a drinks menu when the mains came out it was delivered but no one came back to get the order. No other wait staff came near us except some woman who came out of nowhere and yelled "DO YOU VANT DESERT" I freaking jumped out of my skin, no I don't "vant" anything else here..... Too many really great restaurants in Pyrmont that value their customers and at their price point I don't have to deal with...

Atrocious

The service was poor throughout our experience. We had to wait for 5 minutes at the entrance before the staff even noticed us and even then, they told us to seat where we like, which was a bit hard to do since all the other tables were reserved. After ordering, the staff brought the wrong order to our table no less than twice. After this, we were handed the bill of another table without anything even being brought to our table. After waiting a solid 25 mins for an order for only three people, it came. The waitress literally said "you can all share the butter" I kid you not. The sourdough bread was cold when it was brought to our table - I suspect our food was ready ages before but the inexperienced stuff simply forgot about it.

The food is ridiculously expensive - $5.50 for a medium size coffee, bacon & eggs on toast no less than $13.50 - the bacon is quite literally just one strip. You would think the prices would be because it has waterfront views. But these views really don't justify the prices. The water is dirty and heavily polluted and the trumpeting sound of the cruise liners is quite annoying.

They even forgot to bring us one of the beverages of this - when confronted, the waitress very rudely said, "you didn't order it".

People, save your money, there are much better cafes and...

I haven't been here for many years and was pleased to see that the restaurant in this fantastic location is still doing a brisk weekend trade. The view was particularly lovely on this sunny winter afternoon and our food and waiter were fine. We got a table for three outside easily (no booking) toward the end of what was clearly a busy Sunday afternoon. The wine list was extensive although there was no Rosé - the waiter said the list changes often and at the moment (during the cool weather) there wasn't one available. Shame - because the warm afternoon begged for a splash of pink wine. On that note. the drinks we chose didn't turn up till we nudged our waiter who was appropriately apologetic and quickly sorted out the problem, although we had eaten more than half our meal by then. We really only came for a light meal so didn't try any of the mains. The salt and pepper squid we had was good and so were the fries. I couldn't eat the blueberry and duck liver pate - I tried but something about the blue colour put me off. So, in all, I enjoyed the experience to a point, it just didn't knock my socks off. Maybe the vibe was a wee tad lacklustre - which could have been an end of service issue. Would go again though - especially with a large group on an equally...

The only reason I am giving this one star is because: As soon as we asked the staff if they could change our table, they were happy to accommodate our request. In spite of this, when we asked the waitress to clean our table when she came to take our order, she said she was here to take your order, not to clean your table. Wow! There is a soy latte, juice, and ice chocolate that we order. I was surprised to see that he brought me my ice chocolate in a small glass, normally this should have been placed in a highball glass. When I asked if I could change this into a highball glass, the waiter told me that this is the way you want to serve your drinks, so I agreed. If you order an ice chocolate, do you get that as standard or is that something you can request? Our order was for two buttered arvo borata's, but they gave us one large avo and borata as opposed to mine, which is a hill of arvo and borata's. Basically, the price is the same, but the serving size is different. I am in my 40's and don't look like a kid. Perhaps they need to change the style of the services that they offer and the food that they serve as well. Please see the picture.

Enjoyed a wonderful lunch today on the terrace of this gorgeous restaurant. From the moment we arrived Valentina our waitress was welcoming, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. She gave us tips about the dishes and her own personal recommendations. Each of the four of us chose something different from the menu as our mains. I opted for the seafood pasta - a lovely combination of mussels, prawns, barramundi, squid and linguine in a lovely spicy sauce. My husband enjoyed the yellowfin tuna dish while my nephew had the wild mushroom pappardelle and his partner had the Tasmanian sea urchin spaghettini. All were superb. Desserts were equally good: sticky date pudding with caramel sauce and cream, the house tiramisu and the amaretto affogato. The restaurant was not too crowded in the later afternoon and we stayed until closing time. Even then we never felt under any pressure to leave. Valentina took some lovely photos of our party and made us feel so at home until we left. A great way to spend a Friday afternoon with a lovely view over the harbour.

Great seafood menu. We enjoyed the seafood pasta, seafood bouillabaisse and tuna with a lychee salsa. All the seafood was fresh, succulent and tasty. Chefs suggestions of matching wine very successful. Service most friendly and attentive. Trout ceviche starter very delicious. Catered well for our gluten free guest. Great view across the sparkling water. Saw glittering cruiser ship (across the bay) leave the harbour with much fanfare. Some other guests had difficulty ordering and appreciating the menu and location. The owner handled the taxing situation with great finesse. Given the menu, superb location and friendly atmosphere, I guess some patron's cannot be pleased wherever they go! Restaurant is not only dog friendly but staff and owner actually like dogs and were very welcoming to our Labrador. Also saw lots of families with children enjoying the evening. We had a very happy night out savouring Sydney's balmy summer weather and celebrating a birthday. Thoroughly recommended.
