We had previously been to Zebra Lounge and had a lovely lunch and good service. When we arrived today a little man demanded to know why we were there without a reservation. No welcome greeting and sorry tables are tight. Just open hostility. There were several tables within sight that we pointed out that weren't reserved, he walked us to a table, didn't utter a single word. lucky for him he didn't bother us again. We then sat for 15 minutes waiting for someone to take a drinks order. The staff was rude, lazy and nasty. At one point someone literally flung a reservation sign on the table, she stood away from the table and tossed it, TOSSED IT between me and my niece, it skidded across the table to rest on an angle on the salt shaker. She was lucky I didn't throw it at her retreating back! The only person asked us if we were okay was the owner/chef who also cleared our table. We had food dumped in the middle of the table, up to us to sort it out. Wine glass with lipstick on the rim. Asked for a drinks menu when the mains came out it was delivered but no one came back to get the order. No other wait staff came near us except some woman who came out of nowhere and yelled "DO YOU VANT DESERT" I freaking jumped out of my skin, no I don't "vant" anything else here..... Too many really great restaurants in Pyrmont that value their customers and at their price point I don't have to deal with...

The service was poor throughout our experience. We had to wait for 5 minutes at the entrance before the staff even noticed us and even then, they told us to seat where we like, which was a bit hard to do since all the other tables were reserved. After ordering, the staff brought the wrong order to our table no less than twice. After this, we were handed the bill of another table without anything even being brought to our table. After waiting a solid 25 mins for an order for only three people, it came. The waitress literally said "you can all share the butter" I kid you not. The sourdough bread was cold when it was brought to our table - I suspect our food was ready ages before but the inexperienced stuff simply forgot about it.
The food is ridiculously expensive - $5.50 for a medium size coffee, bacon & eggs on toast no less than $13.50 - the bacon is quite literally just one strip. You would think the prices would be because it has waterfront views. But these views really don't justify the prices. The water is dirty and heavily polluted and the trumpeting sound of the cruise liners is quite annoying.
They even forgot to bring us one of the beverages of this - when confronted, the waitress very rudely said, "you didn't order it".
People, save your money, there are much better cafes and...
Read moreI haven't been here for many years and was pleased to see that the restaurant in this fantastic location is still doing a brisk weekend trade. The view was particularly lovely on this sunny winter afternoon and our food and waiter were fine. We got a table for three outside easily (no booking) toward the end of what was clearly a busy Sunday afternoon. The wine list was extensive although there was no Rosé - the waiter said the list changes often and at the moment (during the cool weather) there wasn't one available. Shame - because the warm afternoon begged for a splash of pink wine. On that note. the drinks we chose didn't turn up till we nudged our waiter who was appropriately apologetic and quickly sorted out the problem, although we had eaten more than half our meal by then. We really only came for a light meal so didn't try any of the mains. The salt and pepper squid we had was good and so were the fries. I couldn't eat the blueberry and duck liver pate - I tried but something about the blue colour put me off. So, in all, I enjoyed the experience to a point, it just didn't knock my socks off. Maybe the vibe was a wee tad lacklustre - which could have been an end of service issue. Would go again though - especially with a large group on an equally...
