Sophie & Bill's — Restaurant in Victoria

Went to Daylesford yesterday from Melbourne for a day trip and stopped here for a bite to eat. Ordered a pizza and a can of drink and the total was $27. Paid and sat on a table. My Mrs thought the price was a bit much and upon asking, they said they were charging $4 for dine in orders. We didnt care much and continued dinning in. The issue is the guy who served us (im assuming it was Bill) never told us about this charge. As we were eating, another family came and they were told about the dine in charge straight away by a female (assuming it was Sophie) and they ordered take away. I know its been a tough year for businesses and as ridiculous as this charge is, its their business after all but the customers need to be notified before hand so they could make a decision. Very bad service and rude staff. Used the washroom but coudnt choose much to eat here as we're vegans. On returning the washroom keys and menus the guy rudely asked why aren't we ordering and did we just come in to use the washroom. Explained the issue to him about being vegans and not much on the menu, he offered to make a pasta and we were obliged to order to make it less awkward. Now, they apparently only accept cash. So im waiting for husband to withdraw cash, order ready my friend gets up to pick it and explain that husband is coming with cash, funny thing, guy takes the food back, intending to give only when we've paid for to dine in. So awkward and weird! Threw the food right outside in the bin. Never had such an uncomfortable...

This is a great cafe/restaurant without all the fancy trims and upper market hype that is now part of places out this way. It’s not pretentious just down to to earth. I like to go to those places at times however not everyone can always afford to have meals in those type of places. Even the pub meals are expensive in Daylesford. So here you get good delicious food at the right prices for ones looking for that. It’s comfortable cosy and has the fireplace burning which was really nice. We had a hamburger with the lot and it was really yummy like the old style ones. The only thing I would add to their fillings on the burger is beetroot as I’m a true Aussie.
