I hesitate to criticize one of the few Indian restaurants in Graz, especially since my experience with the waitress and owner were pleasant, but the food was just not what I expected from an Indian restaurant. We ordered three dishes (plus "garlic" nann, and mango lassies) - saag paneer, butter chicken, and lamb mirch masalla (not on the menu, but just a variation of mirch chicken). The naan and the lassies were acceptable, although there was no garlic on the naan (could have been a miscommunication), and the lassies were a little light on the mango for my taste. The butter chicken was just way too sweet. The saag paneer was acceptable, but a bit on the overly processed (watery) side. The biggest disappointment was the lamb mirch massala. I am used to it being very spicy and thick, with potatoes in a tomato sauce. This was thin, sweet and just the sauce and the lamb.
A couple of points: the Indian food that I like would probably not sell well in Graz, and there are probably a wider variety of styles than I have experienced (even though I have eaten at quite a few different restaurants). Perhaps they have just adapted to their environment, but if you are used to Indian food widely available in the US, I can't recommend this restaurant unless you are desperate for something besides Schnitzel...
Read moreActually it deserves no stars. I ordered Lamb Vindaloo and Chicken Mirchi with Butter Naan and Chapati. Vindaloo is only canned tomato puree with some so-called Indian spices and watery (not juicy & saucy). I would have made it at home even more tastier with the same ingredients from Spar or Billa and even quicker. Chicken Mirchi is deceiving, they served us roasted breast with Capsicum (green Paprika) which is baked till the dish is black. Awful experience. Naan is just any Indian bread from Spar/Billa which is typically 0.5 inch thick and with some butter on it, I could get rich taste of preservatives in every bite. Its definitely not a hotel preperation. Please goto any nearby super market and buy some ready to cook stuff rather than this restaurant. I've been already to many Indian restaurants in Germany/Austria but this was my worst experience being an Indian and basically a food lover. Worst! I am interested to know whether any Indian has been there for the second time (except the...
