While visiting the Christmas market in Spittelberg we quickly searched for a restaurant in the area and this fantastic place popped up. What a hidden gem of a restaurant. This is owner-operated. Two great people doing it for the love of serving you! Fresh food made to order. We were greeted warmly on this chilly night and were quickly seated. This was a Wednesday evening and the place was not busy at 6 PM. Everything was uphill from here. The service was great. We got our drinks and ordered. A fresh salad to start with an excellent mix of vinegar, oil, and water. (I forgot to ask for the exact measurements) Each plate came out hot and smelled wonderful. We ordered pork and chicken cordon bleu and chicken cutlet. Alert! These were all fork tender. The roasted potatoes were spot on. It's easy to under and overcook potatoes. The owner knows his stuff. A perfect potato. Homemade apple strudel was shared between the 4 of us. Warm and delicate, the apples were cooked like the potatoes, soft with just the right crunch. We decided to return for our final night in Vienna for Friday dinner and made a reservation. Again we were warmly greeted and ordered the turkey stuffed with feta cheese and spinach along with the chicken cordon bleu. Fabulous! None of the dishes were oily or greasy. The taste was perfection.
This should be a 5-star restaurant. I have seen some reviews on this and other sites where they got knocked for not having enough tables, the couple being rude, or open tables when someone walked in. They are quite busy on Friday and Saturday evenings and those tables were probably reserved. Remember this is a small establishment that has 7 tables that can accommodate about 5-6 people each. RESERVATIONS RECOMMENDED!! Yes, they both speak great English as well as German. The menu is in both languages. To this loving sweet couple that cooks and bakes out of their love for sharing, you...
Read moreHello reader, I do not know anyone that works there, or owns the place. I ate here while in town with my wife. Now if y'all are looking for a real neighborhood hole in the wall joint that has great food and chill vibes this is it. It is ran by some very cool people, it is a small apartment that was converted to a restaurant. The cook is a maestro with the grub! And he does it by himself in a tiny, regular kitchen and CRUSHES IT! Ain't nothing like the real thing y'all, the Mrs. working the front of the house is also very cool. Great music playing on the radio, the place is very clean, and not stuffy. It felt like I came back home to eat at my grand folks house! It was awesome.
Bring cash. Get the white wine. Get the noodle thing with the gravy. I had the fried pork thing and it was amazing.
They even have a very cool dog that just hangs out. My wife and I had made some very cool memories there with those folks, and we will be returning there to eat and drink wine the the next time we are back in town.
FYI, it looked like regular street parking. I don't remember what we paid for the meal and drinks, but it was very reasonable.
I hope this...

Dining at Beisl in der Sigmundsgasse is not like eating out. It’s like crashing Lena’s family dinner — except you’re paying 17 euros and she lets you stay.
I had the beef with apple and horseradish sauce, paired with spinach and potato. It wasn’t just lovely — it was emotionally manipulative. My grandmother passed away years ago, and somehow, Lena’s husband managed to channel her soul into that plate. I was one bite away from calling my therapist.
The ambience? Imagine walking into someone’s living room uninvited — and then being told you’re exactly where you belong. A rare kind of awkward comfort.
It’s not fast, it’s not fancy, but it’s home. 4 stars — because if Lena’s reading this, I don’t want to get on...
