Kuchlmasterei — Restaurant in Vienna

It's a trap in all senses. In addition to the negative reviews here, which I believe, I will add my 5 cents. We were planning a BD dinner and booked a table here. The choice of restaurant I made based on photos of inertia and the prices in a photo of menu, published by a user with a name of the restaurant 4 months before (which is deleted now). The prices were above average for Vienna but acceptable. I checked the website for online booking but the website was down, so I booked by phone. When we came there, I was served water immediately before we got the menu, which is fine, but in the menu the prices were twice more from what I saw on a photo, there were items for almost 300 euro. We decided that we are not that rich, explained to the waiter that we were misguided by their post on Google maps and had to pay 6 euro for service, 3 for water and nobody brought us change from 10 euro. But more than that, the manager came to talk to us, she said that they had a 20% increase half a year ago (and the photo was posted 4 months before), that we should not check user photos (come on, the user with the name of the restaurant...) and that we should check prices on their website( which was down) or on some website I have never heard of. It was very unpleasant, we didn't need a lecture when we just explained why we are leaving. Anyway, we found a much better local place nearby and enjoyed the evening and the food. If there was an option for zero stars, this would be the time. I arrived 10 min early for my reservation. The restaurant had maybe 2-3 parties. When I arrived I swear the waiter was walking up just to say “no”. However, I shared I had a reservation and he escorted me to the bar to wait. Mind you, there are all of 5 people total in the entire restaurant. Complete waste of my time. People have talked about the team here and a severely rude middle aged man. Well. He was there in full effect. I asked for a cocktail menu and was told there wasn’t one yet. Yet!?! Let Instagram tell it, this is a vibrant chic and fun restaurant. Kudos to whomever did the IG marketing, but you will note there have been no updates and there are no comments.

This was more like being at Medieval Times. I kept looking at the address trying to make sure I was at the right place. The vibes were evil and creepy. To the point that I would not have eaten a free meal from this place. I’m sure they were trying to run me out since I had a late night reservation. But close at 9 if that’s your desire. And they succeeded. Because after seeing the man I mentioned cough directly over coffee cups he was presenting to a table. I called my Uber. Austrian Kitchen nightmares…someone please call Gordon Ramsey NOW!

I’ll start off by saying the food was fine, nothing special but not horrible. However, the 2 star review comes from the terrible service. Our server was obviously under a lot of stress and was trying, but in a restaurant that charges on average €50 for a main meal, the service was unacceptable. We were sat at our table without a smile and given only one menu between 4 people. No one explained the menu to us and we sat and waited for around 20 minutes to have any type of service at our table. The waiter came around finally and asked us what we were ordering and he did not understand our questions about the menu. When we got our meals the food was nice but definitely not worth the €300 bill (including a €33 tip they added on for us without asking…unacceptable). The carpet was also absolutely filthy which is crazy considering the type of price you’re praying. Overall, I warn anyone to head here, the service is even lower than sub par and the food is...
