Mono Sushi Bar — Restaurant in Vienna

I booked a table on Valentine’s Day as I knew it would be busy. We arrived on time, but were left standing in the entrance of the restaurant for ten minutes before we were even acknowledged. It took another 15 minutes before we were seated, with no apology or communication about the delay.

The service was slow, although the food seemed ok. However a few hours later, both my partner and myself were struck with horrendous food poisoning. We were both so ill that it ruined the last day of our holiday, and we were forced to miss several events and shows we had already paid for. Even now, several days later we are both still unwell and suffering ill effects. I emailed the restaurant on Sunday to let them know what had happened, and they’ve not even had the courtesy to reply.

I hate leaving bad reviews and want local businesses to do well but have to say I had a pretty bad experience here, so wanted to communicate it. Went for an evening meal with a reservation and despite some delays and issues with too many people got sat down and ordered.

Food seemed ok but was a bit disjointed service. I assumed it's just because it was busy but what followed was the worst part.

Unfortunately both myself and my partner experienced severe food poisoning within 6 hours of eating there. It was so bad we couldn't go to shows and tours we had booked on our trip the next day and a week later still both recovering. I'm sure this isn't everyone's experience but sadly this place has made me question if I could ever face eating...

I ate lunch here and really enjoyed the reasonably priced 'Mono Special' bento box - great fish, nicely presented, also nice service. I did have to knock a star off though, for two things - 1) the bento box itself was really old and beat up, paint rubbing off, chipped corners etc. - made me a bit wary of the sushi (though it did turn out to be delicious). 2) I was seated outside at the north-west table, and the wood floor beside me really needed repair - each time someone walked by the floor would sink and my table would tip alarmingly, once I barely rescued my drink. In short - great sushi, and I do hope that the owners make some replacements/repairs so that next time I can change this review...
