The food was ok, but if I wanna get fooled by clowns, I'd rather go to the circus. When calling the place I was told they were overbooked and no chance for a table. I mentioned that I would like to taste their heavily advertised salmon pizza with caviar and real gold on top - said to be the most expensive pizza in Vienna - and all of a sudden I was told to come and they would find us a table. We came and got a nice little table for two. Then I immediately asked for the golden pizza, the waiter didnt even know what I was talking about. When coming back 5 minutes later we were informed that they didn"t have the gold yet and it was advertised too early. I was disappointed but mistakes happen so I ordered a truffle pizza instead. While eating the pizza the waiter came with edible gold and said he found it but probably too late (so he lied in the first place about not having it yet). I felt liked they wanted to fool me on purpose but again - nevermind. We proceeded to eat, paid our bill but on the way out I talked to the guy whom I talked to on the phone before where the gold was - he said that I had come spontaniously so why would i think I would get what I want (well maybe because he didn't say otherwise when I called and asked for it) and then he just looked away like he was too good to talk to us. After leaving we found out that the guy was actually the boss of the restaurant. Way to go, dude! You will for sure never...
Read moreMy wife and I chose to have dinner at this Italian restaurant based on the favorable reviews. The ambience was very impressive when we entered the establishment, but that's when the quality stopped immediately. The service was horrific and unfriendly. The waiter basically growled at us and when my wife told him that her pasta dish should be without cheese, he made no acknowledgement and then took the next order. Food was basically dropped on our table in a very rushed manner and she end up being served the pasta with cheese despite telling the staff otherwise. I ordered the tagliatele bolognese. I was hoping that since Austria shared a border with Italy that the food quality would be equal or better than that from the US. Unfortunately, the pasta was tasteless and our waiter neglected to ask whether or not we wanted parmesan cheese or ground pepper on our dishes. We had bread that was brought out without our requesting and then found we were charged for it. Of course, we would express our dissatisfaction to the staff through the tipping process, but guess what-tip is already included! This was such a sad example of an Italian restaurant-terrible food, terrible service, and hidden charges. In most other countries, this place would. be out...
Read moreI booked initially Trattoria Martinelli and the kind waiter there recommended to check out Regina if we want to eat as soon as possible.
When I came to the restaurant, I told the hostess that we’d like to have a table for a short period of time, as we have the booking in their second restaurant. The hostess started bragging that he’s the owner of these two restaurants and insisting that I give him my name so he’ll cancel my booking in Trattoria, if I won’t make it. He was literally arguing with me that it’s not personal and he can make profit of someone else. I don’t think I should explain how stupid this sounds.
Obviously, I had no motivation whatsoever to go and spend north of €100 in Trattoria after this “treatment”.
Place itself is very noisy, waiters can’t handle the amount of ppl, pasta and pizza were fine, and the only reason I stayed was due to the fact that I travelled all day and was really hungry.
I think it’s really good for the hostess to be the owner of two restaurants (haven’t seen anything like this before), but I will not return to either of the restaurants. Ridiculous and pointless conversations from “the boss” should be replaced by people who actually know how to...
