So embarrassing and shameful for the museum, since the manager was sure to make us regret our visit. We were headed to the Sisi museum but there were no signs near the entrance of the Spanish riding school, even if they are not in english. We entered to get information about the museum which the worker responded to by saying “We have guided tours.” So we bought our tickets and when we walked a bit across while waiting for our time slot, we noticed the sisi museum before us. Hence realizing that we had mixed the museums up, we went back to the spanish riding school for a refund because we had paid 37 euros. (1 child and an adult)

The worker was very reluctant to give us our refund although we had exited roughly 5 seconds ago, and we assured her that we could pay a fee or get our refund by cash.

She called her manager who was a Karen with repulsive manners. She came fiercely and raised her voice, saying that it was on us for not reading the labels. We accepted, put asked for a refund since we hadn’t done anything with the museum yet and said that the worker hadn’t given us information to which the worker raised an eyebrow and childishly defended herself “Oh yeah?”

Almost spitting on our face with anger, the manager told us that we could get a voucher only and when we asked on info about it she said she didn’t care. How shameful that they prefer 30 euros over customer service. Literally stole our money, and kicked us out in a threatening voice.

I must remind you that the refund must be given, because we hadn’t even entered the museum. Have fun spending our money, Karen.

Edit; we attended the museum since we were not able to get our refund and my opinion hasn’t changed. This was such an expensive waste. Our guide couldn’t even speak proper english, let alone didn’t know anything about the spanish riding school worth knowing. The hall was pretty but boring and useless. A...

I watched the show on Friday 26th of April. They presented three performances that lasted a total of 30 minutes. The rest of the time was pointless speeches by the presenter who would brag about how amazing the School is and try to justify the totally failed performance of the second and third parts with excuses... So during the second part, one of the horses really didn't like to be there and showed it on multiple instances. On the third part another horse would just change it's course suddenly putting the rider and the other riders and horses at risk, constantly. The excuse by the presenter was the clapping of the crowd scaring the horse, but shouldn't this be part of the horse's training in the first place? And then there is the matter of sitting in the venue, or rather the matter of not sitting. The exaggerated price you pay for the cheapest sitting will not really allow you to sit at all, because of you do you can only see half of the arena. So you need to stand per chance to be able to view more, but it's pointless. And then there are the standing tickets... What a disrespect to the audience and a clear statement that this is a sport for the Elite. On a final note, I just have to commend on the SRS promoting - via the presenter during the show - the selling of horses... I guess if they continue with shows like the one I watched, that will be their only way of getting some income. To conclude, if you plan to travel to experience the high art of horsemanship, you have the better and cheapest option of Córdoba, Spain. There you will get flawless performances, more riders and horses participating, double the actual duration time, about half the ticket cost, no standing tickets and anywhere you are seated you can see the...

Spanish riding school , is highly overrated event. It's overprised for what it is. Nice building, nice architecture, great history, 17th century bla bla. Simply SKIP it. WHY?! What is wrong?! This place has very little number of seats, and prices for these seats are pretty high. I paid 33€ for standing ticket. I bought my ticket 3 months in advance, and this was the only available option! When I arrived at the place I was badly surprised by the lack of organisation.Literally get inside and find a spot using your elbows.I felt like I am on a train in Bangladesh, not at a classy horse riding show. If you have 180€ for a seated ticket you might see something. This is why I am trying to give insight to other fellow travelers, because the UGLY is not on their web site. Pictures and videos not allowed! This is a dealbreaker for me.If I spend thousands of $ to visit Vienna I want memories. For some weird reason the employee of this place are not offering much help to the visitors. After exacy 17 min watching 5 horses making circles while some classical music playing . I was fed up by the place, bad customer service, poor experience, and I left. If you want to see horse riding masters go to rodeo. This is simply an overpriced circus .I red a lot of positive reviews, BUT I found that most of those exited reviews are written by peopple who have not been at the RIDING SHOW! Most of those people have been at the stables, or watched the RIDING SHOW morning TRAINING. Just look at their pictures! Pictures of the stables, gift shop, or stables yard across the street( the flying horse). Some people obviously wrote reviews about something they have never seen. MY VERDICT based on MY personal experience- not...

This is only some of the many activities to do in Vienna with kids:   1. Spanish Riding School - If your kids are into horses then this is a no brainer. Just to say you have been to this prestigious school to watch a practice is pretty cool. It can be a short commitment if you don’t have much time.   2. Schönbrunn Palace is a short train ride from the city center. In addition to the historical palace, it is home to some incredible gardens, a maze, the Palmhouse AND the worlds oldest continually operating zoo in the world!   3. Vienna’s Natural History Museum is nothing short of impressive. Whether your kids are into dinosaurs and extinct mammals or meteorites and crystals, the collection the have on display is incredible.   4. Visit the Carriage stables and ride into town! So most people just take a picturesque carriage ride around the downtown area, BUT what many people don’t know is you can tour the carriage stable right outside of town and then ride a horse carriage into town and get dropped off at St. Stephens Cathedral. The kids loved this!   5. Prater Amusement Park. This is like a mix between a theme park and a fair. It is open 24 hours a day with free entry and you pay per ride. There was a lot of interesting Viennese folklore that inspired some of the rides which was unique and fun for us. This is a good activity for kids/adults of all ages.   6. The Butterfly House or Schmetterling Haus is fun for kids too. It’s located in one of the most beautiful Nouveau palm houses in the world, where we enjoyed lunch after admiring the butterflies. Probably better for smaller kids.    7. The sweet treats! From the famous Sacher cake to ice cream shops everywhere, there is no shortage of sweets. We also like to think of these as bribes for our kids!   Save this post for later! I booked the approx EUR110 standard performance, booked flights & hotel, but got an email a few days before saying that due to roof repairs, teh event was cancelled - so I could have a refund, or I could book for the 1hr Training Class observation for about EUR30. Since the visit was the centrepiece of my trip to Vienna, I was disappointed - so booked the lower grade option. Experience was a bit disappointing - although teh horses & riders were worth seeing. (1) The online booking system is really clunky and even worse, you have to print out tickets and fold them according to a special method (only explained in German - so use Google Translate) to gain admission. NOte however, that some people who did not fold their paper were in fact admitted! (2) Directions to the venue are misleading - follow teh signage and you end up in the wrong place - with nobody to warn you that you will miss teh event. You have to exit the main entrance, go right and right again to a small staircase that opens 30mins before teh performance. Weird. (3) I did not see it mentioned when booking but they forbid taking photos or videos when you get in the arena area. Fortunately, if you take them before the announcement comes over teh loudspeakers in english about 5 mins in to the performance you would not know, so just take your photos early. (4) Very poor commentary - so if you did not know much about chooling etc. you would be either bored or at a loss to understand. Overall OK for teh EUR30 or so - but now what was expected and a really terrible organization / welcome for clients. Almost seems like an old soviet system!

Living tradition, the values of the past blending with the passion of the present The Spanish Riding School in Vienna is the only institution in the world which has practiced for more than 450 years and continues to cultivate classical equitation in the Renaissance tradition of the Haute Ecole – which can also be found on UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Since 1920, the stud located in the West Styrian village of Piber has been home to the famous Lipizzaners. As the only stud in Austria, Piber’s role is to breed Lipizzaner stallions which will later demonstrate their skills in the world-famous Spanish Riding School in Vienna. The Heldenberg in Lower Austria is the third site of the Spanish Riding School. On the one hand the stallions are trained and continually exercised at this location. On the other hand they spend their well-earned summer holiday as well as two to three additional six weeks breaks there enjoying a horse-friendly life. Moreover, in Heldenberg third parties are given the opportunity to improve their horsemanship through various courses.
