Nice place right down from the Mercure hotel yet it's left a very bitter taste in my mouth, mainly due to its arrogant and unknowleadgeable staff. Due to high temperatures, the wine I asked for, Blaufränkisch, had gone sour yet I was made feel very uncomfortable by one of the team, experiencing a near eye roll from him, when I politely asked for the wine to be perhaps checked and re-served as it smelled sour the moment I tried it. I did ask as to whether it was opened today or earlier and, when I found out it was done yesterday, it was clear to me that the sourness I smelled and tasted must have come from an overnight heat as the bottles were not in a red wine cooler. It wasn't a problem for me though, I just wanted to have the wine repoured, yet the bartender had none of it, he kept trying to tell me the wine was fine and wasn't corked (which it was not as I was trying to tell him, that wasn't my point!), arrogantly smiling all along, and then smirklingly serving me the same wine in a new glass saying he couldn't taste the difference, of course he couldnt when he smelled the same wine from the glass and the bottle and apparently knew nothing of what it should smell like! I then had to come back to be given new content for the other glass as there were two of us there.. such a weird, unnecessary and frustrating encounter which could have been dealt with in a second yet instead it was made a show and made me want to leave the place asap. Which I did. The other colleague tried to explain the rudeness as we were leaving but too little too...
Read moreFood was good, service and atmosphere poor. We were left to find our own table (more difficult than expected with so many uncleared tables) and it was the only place in Vienna that did not ask or provide water with wine or enquire how our meals were. Very quiet restaurant with generic ‘bland’ music playing. Perhaps it’s due to it being a restaurant affiliated with the Mercure (we didn’t know that when going in) and a service charge being automatically applied (worst service we have...
Read moreMy wife and I ate here on Dec 17 during a trip to Vienna. We split a salad as a starter and it was incredibly fresh and tasty. We each then had different roast beef dishes for dinner - I had the boiled beef and my wife had roast beef in a sauce. Both were excellent and seemed very authentic to us. Our server was attentive, and the setting is very classical. We highly...
