tl;dr: expect long waits and no English menu. Their Wienerschnitzel is possibly their only saving grace.
With an all-German menu, I thought maybe the food here might be a little less "touristy", but given that it was still in the heart of the Naschmarkt, maybe I should have tempered my expectations. The vibe in the restaurant itself was cozy, with plenty of outdoor seating. I ordered the Zwielbelrostbraten, and another from our party ordered the Wienerschnitzel.
Our food took literally 35 minutes from ordering to come out, though given that the wait was about the same at all of the restaurants we went to in Vienna, I'm starting to wonder if that is just par for the course in this city. The meat of my dish was extremely tough - hard to cut and hard to chew, with a dry, tasteless flavor. I got through two bites of it before I had to stop. The potatoes and onions were done well, though, and the Wienerschnitzel was actually quite good. But all in all, unable to recommend any of the other...
Read moreMade a reservation for Sunday at 12 pm. Restaurant was closed despite website saying their Sunday hours are 11-17.
Edit after seeing restaurant's reply: I attached a photo from today/Sunday at Naschtmarket 15-20 minutes after 12 showing an empty menu board, locked doors, and folding signs and chairs tucked against the wall rather than being set up for display/use. I did not see any customers on the patio or inside through the windows, or any staff moving outside to indicate the restaurant was open or being prepared to be open. Maybe it opened at 1 pm or whenever, but I gave up on waiting and left for another restaurant.
If this page is not for the Naschtmarket location, please reply, and I will correct it, but the Naschtmarket location was definitely not open when I arrived for my reservation...
Read moreRUDE WAITRESSES! Took 20 minutes to place order, on top of that the Waitress (the young one, there were only two of them) was extremely rude. Asked us to not be impatient, made a huge face while taking our order, and yet we thought okay maybe she is having a bad day.
Next the order is served wrong. Fries instead of Salad, along with Schnitzel. And to top it all - they served Beef Schnitzel instead of Pork to my wife. And when informed they refused to accept their mistake, and told us ‘eat your Schnitzel or go’. We did not feel welcome at all, ate only half our food and left. Such a tragedy, we had high hopes from this place. We even waited 15 mins for a table.
Do not waste your time here. You are better off finding a kinder place that doesn’t get your...
