IceLab NiceCream Creations — Restaurant in Antwerp

My family and I have been coming to this delicious ice cream shop often. Often, we each take a piece of cake or an ice cream, a delicious coffee. We spend copious amounts of money for the already overpriced menu (and yeah, I get it: inflation etc.) I must say, the ice cream is very nice, but damn that old woman owner is a nag. She called me rude today, and perhaps that’s because I am French, or perhaps that’s because she thinks that saying things “softly” to people is not rude— on the contrary I think condescension to semi-regulars, is in itself a form of insidious rudeness, something that is worth being rude-as-a-response about. (Sue me, I’m French.)

I have worked in hospitality for a decade so I understand that I can’t bring in a drink from elsewhere to a place. But today, I had brought a small bottle of water (absent mindedly actually: it’s a hot summer day, I’m just constantly holding one in my hand). My 5 year old wanted to eat ice cream, I wanted a coffee. I only had 7 euros at hand in my account, and I would have loved a coffee, but after I order A SINGLE SCOOP OF ICE CREAM WITH SPRINKLES, which I am charged 6 EUROS for, I resign to just watching my son enjoy his ice cream. Then this lady owner, in a very condescending tone basically complains my son is drinking from the bottle of water (from THIRST due to her 6 euro single scoop), saying “You know we have a drinks menu, we would appreciate it if you didn’t bring that water.” And no, sorry, lady, I couldn’t help myself being rude to you because that was also rude. You see us come sometimes, spend loads in your shop, we never complain about the prices which are basically extortion (but that’s another story), and because we didn’t spend enough to your taste you have to make a comment? “But I’m just trying to run a business” is what she said. Yes, well if you’re running a business maybe you want to not be difficult when you’re already charging 6 euros for a single scoop. (Oh yes, it had sprinkles. That add-on alone must have cost 1 euro or something). I said the F word and I don’t regret it. I should have added P*tain too.

I see this has already happened with other people whose review I am here attaching as a screenshot. And yes, I am ranting on a Google review — petty but necessary. I won’t be coming back and giving more money to a stingy...

My friends and I had the pleasure of visiting this establishment, being served by a young lady who provided fantastic service. The ice cream was excellent, rich in flavour and consistency. It was a very hot day, so we decided to sit inside as there were no seats outside. The inside seating area was completely empty, we were the only ones in the store. We had just finished our ice-creams and moved seats to the lower tables to pack our bags ready to leave the store, whilst my friend took a sip of cold water. Everything was perfect up until the last minute when the older woman (the owner?) told us to leave the store because we had moved seats and inferred a faux-pas that my friend was drinking his own water instead of purchasing from the store, despite the fact we’d just spent €30 on product. She then went on to nag and begin whining saying you wouldn’t do this in a bar/restaurant despite the fact we were about to leave. It seems she was happy to take our money and kick us out when we finished product. After the very sweet delicious ice cream, unfortunately it left a sour taste in our mouthes. It was a shame to leave Antwerp on such a bad note, being insulted for spending our custom here. Perhaps the older lady needs to take note from the...

Okay, I didn't really travel a lot but this is the best gelato and the best ice cream I have ever eaten in my life. And it's vegan🌈 She crafts it with rice milk, or soy milk or sometimes even coconut. And you would've never found out if you weren't told so. She makes the icecream and also serves it herself at the counter ready to answer and any questions you have about it .

Just how she is, it's like she's so devoted to what she's doing and it creates a whole vibe and feels likes,.

This lady is just there Calling you out saying, " hey look, I found this really delicious recipe and you should totally taste it!!' it didn't feel like I was walking into a shop. Felt so much more like a home and warm Although it is ice cream. To this lady 🙇🏿🙇🏿🙇🏿🙏🏿

If I ever get a chance I'd be glad to learn from her, this art and bring it to more people in the world ☺️
