We have visited Bruges with couple of friends for a relaxing weekend. While walking around old town and looking for place to have dinner we've found this little gem. From the start, the lady who serve us was amazing, she not only have spoken several languages, but she was patient and polite. The menu is simple, but you can expect, and we've experienced that with our order, dishes are prepared with high quality ingredients and made to taste and look perfect. I haven't had as good "Filet of beef" in several years. And even the simple thing like French fries were remarkably good. We finished with coffee, some dessert which has been offered for "non coffee" drinkers by the chef, that was such a nice touch. If you around the area I strongly recommend to visit this place and try their beef. If I ever be back I try to visit and experience again the warm and welcoming atmosphere and amazingly prepared dishes.

I had dinner on a rainy weekday and was very happy with the food, the service, the decor, pretty much everything. I’ve come here before many times but the last time was a long time ago, so I was happy to see the original owners still operate the restaurant (since early nineties!). I had the shrimp salad which is exquisite and unlike anything shrimp-y you’ll find in other places. Simply delicious. Then I had the salmon, served with a cream sauce, leak, some fine parties. This was also very delicious with excellent service; personal but not clingy, smooth but not swift. The interior hasn’t changed all these years yet somehow nothing looks tired or worn. The only thing to be aware of is that the background sound track is Verdi (duh…) so you better tolerate/like that :)

The place looked lovely from the outside with people drinking tea. We decided to give it a try. We ordered 2 teas and a waffle. They brought one set of silverware. When the waffle came we intended to share it with my wife. Asked for a second fork and they charged €2,00 for it. Ridiculous in a place like that. It’s unfortunate that they take advantage of the tourists that way. So far we are not impressed with the hospitality in Bruges. Waiter was in a hurry and not welcoming. Would NEVER go back. YMMV. Now we know why they only were drinking tea and not eating anything.

Because we were only staying one night in Bruges, I booked something simple, not too expensive, only needed a place to sleep. Well, they really gave us our moneys worth. When we arrived, we were asked to park in front of the establishment, one person took our car and valet parked it nearby, another person took our luggage and brought us around the corner (maybe 50 meters?) to a beautiful house where a spiral staircase (life also available) brought us to our room named Nabucco, which was spacious (seriously, it was almost apartment sized) with excellent Wifi, Nespresso coffee maker, small fridge, TV, king-sized bed, desk, dining table, single bed, antiques everywhere, and modern bathroom conveniences with separate toilet. The windows looked out onto a street that went straight to the Market Square (and, yes, I admit, it was noisy at night) - I would sit on the large window sills and just look out at all the fabulous people passing. I can't judge any of the other rooms, but the Nabucco room was just awesome. That night, we also had dinner at the Verdi location itself. It was not cheap, but both service and quality of food was, again, excellent. And yes, they play Verdi constantly. What did you expect at a place called Verdi - the Rolling Stones??? At the included breakfast next morning, they couldn't disappoint if they wanted to: a nice variety of breads and cereals, deli meats and cheeses, fresh and dried fruits, yoghurts, just delish. I'm probably making this review longer than anybody is willing to read, but if ever I return to Bruges, I will definitely try to book the same room there at the Verdi B&B. Oh, before I forget, they all seemed to speak at least Dutch, English, French, German, and probably some other languages too. Made it SO easy peasy for...

We booked six months in advance because this place looked so lovely and a bit special for our time in Bruges with our friends. Sadly, there was no room for us when we arrived. We were shunted off to a budget room in an inferior hotel. ||||The situation was handled very poorly as we had no idea what was going on. Upon arrival our friends were carted off one way and us another. We didn't know where they were taken or where we were going - or even that we were going somewhere else. There was something confusing said about us being on different floors, but that was it . There was not a word of apology offered. ||||When we eventually figured out what had happened - our mates got a room at the BNB but we didn't - we tried to get an explanation and were met with arrogance, defensiveness and obfuscation. We eventually got agreement from the manager that he would reduce our charge to match what we'd have had to pay at the cheaper hotel. Surely something that should gave been offered without having to ask at the very least!! We had sussed out the rate difference with the reception at the alternative hotel but we only got a reduction of about half what we should have. We again tackled the manager about that but he was adamant that he had refunded the difference between what we paid him and he paid the other hotel. Again no apology at all. The opposite in fact - he made it clear he did not care in the least. || ||A very disappointing experience. Reading other reviews seems we're not the only ones who have had a similar experience. A nice place but it seems you can't be sure they won't cancel your...
