The best Indian food that I had in Europe. If you like Indian food, you must try SOI. This is a new place near St Catherine in Brussels center. The ambiance was great. The place was tastefully decorated which will certainly remind you of India.
They have brought two very experienced chefs from India and it was evident from all the dishes that we tasted. Every dish had distinct authentic taste and carefully presented which shows the experience of the cooks and the owner.
It is very different from the other Indian restaurants in Belgium where you get westernized Indian dishes without much authenticity.
For drinks, the Mango Martini should get a special mention. The mixed kebab as starter were very tender and authentic. My friends said the Prawn cocktail was awesome. The Lamb Sukkha with Malabar paratha in main course was simply out of the world. The Lamb Kofta was mouth watering. The Mutton Biriyani was truly authentic and reminded us of Kolkata. And at the end the Malpoa with Rabri was the best dessert for such a sumptuous meal. I bet you won't get this dessert in 99% of the Indian restaurants in Belgium if not this is the only place where you get it.
We didn't try much vegetarian or vegan options. But there were plenty of choices there in the menu as well.
Overall, just visit it once and you will understand. You need to experience it to finally fullfil your craving for good authentic Indian...
Read moreIt was my birthday and we went to Amsterdam on 23 rd May, while on return we missed our train and Brussels plan flourished on the spot. We went to Brussels tour and were in search of Indian restaurant nearby during afternoon. There were no expectations as such in terms of taste but nonveg food was preferred, Google maps is my friend indeed which suggested nearby Indian restaurant quickly and I believed it to be good. Not looking into what is the review, we hopped into this fine dine. Atmosphere was filled with aromas while I was into the menu chart. We ordered Avadhi chicken curry , butter naans , chicken biryani and may be butter chicken( not sure second dish).
Taste of everything that we ordered made us feel we are in India ( for that one hour). How much was the waiting time didnt matter to us, but the taste with utmost superior quality did.Order was served within reasonable time.
The lady owner and staff (Muhammad) are very gentle and warm. I did spill some raita on the table, but Muhammad cleaned it with ease and smile. Also, they refilled the Raita again.
When in future I would visit Brussels, Spoonful of India is on my plate as wishlist. ❤️❤️ Food is an emotion, you will definitely feel it must be poured by the Chefs here. Applauding for the fact of Indian food being represented by this SOI team in such a grandeur. Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo Re🥰- ...
Read moreThe most amazing Indian food!! Spoonful of India has delighted us every single time (fell in love and have visited probably 5-6 times in the past month!).
Their dishes are delicious (have tried now 7 of their mains and they all offer a journey of flavour into true Indian cuisine). Of course you can find classics like Butter Chicken but we would highly recommend trying the variety they offer, particularly the house special Lamb Kofta and their vegetarian Dal Makhani (for lentils/beans fans). All main dishes with good portions and a good range in cost as well, some from €8 in veggie mains and up to €20 for meats :) would say that the flavour is unique as this tasted truly like the food when I have visited India and which is rarely offered in the usual Indian restaurants.
We have invited several foreign friends over and it’s really nice that dishes are prepared according to spice tolerance too (mild is truly mild, medium has a nice heat to it and spicy is truly spicy!).
Ishan and the rest of the staff have been extremely welcoming. You can see the passion in their work and the love and expertise from the chefs cooking their traditional food.
We have been lovers of Indian food for years and are extremely happy to have a unique place close to home that genuinely is like a...
