Dined here on our past night in Brussels and was looking for something easy for dinner for my husband and I, we saw the reviews of this place on google and thought we’d give it a go. When we arrived the place was busy with staff running off their feet but the waitress was happy to clear a table for us inside on the ground floor which we were thankful. We had an older gentleman take our order and I pointed to a particular pizza my husband and I wanted to share with x2 beers. Whilst we waited for dinner, we saw first hand the stress of the staff and Pizza chef and you could quickly tell the restaurant was struggling during a rush period and being understaffed and people who had finished their meals before us waiting a while to pay and leave. When we received our meal, it was the wrong dish (a salad, not a pizza) there may have been some confusion with the language barrier but when I bought it to the attention of the waiter, he tried to make it out it was my fault for ordering the salad when he ‘asked me if I wanted a salad and I apparently said yes’ even though I was pointing to a pizza on the actual pizza menu. The waiter fixed the issue by having another waiter drop off the ‘salad’ on a Margherita pizza, which was not the pizza my husband and I ordered. I didn’t want to cause a fuss so my husband and I ate the incorrect pizza as quickly as we could (in which the pizza was only OK, nothing to rave about), then paid an left.
I don’t typically write negative reviews but as someone who works in hospitality and understands what its like to he run off your feet and understaffed, there is still a way of service, wether you are a local or a tourist. Unfortunately this experience left a negative experience for my husband and I with our last night in Brussels. If anyone is thinking of dining here for dinner, I would advise to maybe go late afternoon/early evening or late evening as this may be quieter times for staff to serve and be more...
Read moreUnfortunate experience- this was our very first day visiting Brussels. After our tour at the choco-story and a stroll in Grand Place, we came to have lunch here. Our waiter was very POOR in attending to us since the time we were seated at the table. It seemed he would rather not even care for us. We waited 45 min in all to have our meal served to us since the time we sat. He was SLOW to come to our table to take our order, and we waved 3 different waiters/ hosts down before he came over. The ice in our cups had melted when he finally brought our beverages over, which we had again had to ask 2 different waitstaff about on this very hot day. He brings over our pizzas (whole, uncut) with the basket of bread with butter, which we don’t bother to eat since we are passed the appetizer, and ready to eat our meal. BUT he doesn’t bring us any plates. We again have to wave down a waiter and then walk into the restaurant to make clear we need 4 plates in order to eat. Most frustrating pre-meal experience, especially when paired with a waiter who doesn’t seem to care and doesn’t even acknowledge the neglect. It’s either it’s intentional neglect, new to the job, or cognitively something is amiss. Yes, we are Asian and there aren’t many that we had seen around during this short morning period on our first day, but he didn’t seem to have problems frequenting his other tables. I felt he might spit in our food before bringing it to our table- this was the level of neglect. Disheartened to think that Belgians can be this way, especially those in the service industry (??) Why work in hotspots/ heavy tourist area if you don’t like diversity of people and lack any kind of warmth/ care? Yes, we ll never come back as we are tourists and will come and leave your country, but does it matter to you that people depend on you for service and food, as we all do- no matter the kind of race and...
Read moreWOW, worst service I've ever had, and I'm American!
The waiter took about 20 minutes to take our water orders. 20 minutes! He was clearly being yelled at by his supervisor because of his lack of service to our table.
Then, it took about an hour to get our bruschetta. I just couldn't believe it. It's raw tomato and bread...
When the food finally came (an hour and 20 minutes after ordering) I took 2 bites before I stopped. The gnocchi was so bad, I ended up sharing my girlfriends dinner with her. How in the world do you screw up gnocchi??
Even my girlfriends dinner, listed as a pasta with shrimp and cherry tomatoes, was a mess. The way the menu describes it, it should be a pasta in white sauce with shrimp and cherry tomatoes, but it was in a red sauce. It was misleading and my girlfriend didn't like her own dinner.
After we finished eating and we're clearly done, we waited about 30 minutes before the server even started taking out plates away. We sat for 30 minutes just watching him walk back and forth.
Worst worst worst service...
