I had the most amazing experience here tonight! Tonight is my last night in Belgium visiting my family before heading home, and I was meant to get dinner with them- but I’m vegan, and the restaurant they picked didn’t have much I could eat. So, I went on HappyCow and found Noodle Bar and came here on my own- and this was a perfect last meal here before heading home. The staff were so incredibly friendly, kind, and accommodating, and that made the experience here really pleasant and wonderful. The menu is really clear and very easy for a foreigner like me to understand because there was English on the menu too. Many items on the menu have a vegan option available, and there were so many types of food to choose from, I honestly had trouble picking what to get!! I had the vegetable gyoza and the tom yum soup with tofu. The gyoza were steamed perfectly and the flavor was SO delicious- some of the best gyoza I’ve ever had. The soup came piping hot and was just as spicy as the menu promised, made with incredibly fresh ingredients, and it was so, so flavorful and delicious- It was exactly what I was craving. The bowl was huge- it was a great portion size and left me so satisfied and even now, hours later, I’m still full!! I wish I had discovered Noodle Bar sooner during my stay in Belgium so that I could have eaten here twice. I hope to come back to Belgium and eat here again in the future. They were all around so incredibly wonderful, and I’m so happy that I stumbled...
Read moreI had dinner here last night and thought the food was okay but not great. Ordered chicken spring rolls and #56 Kho Soi with duck. I watched the spring rolls come out of a freezer and was a bit disappointed by the presentation of my soup; it wasn’t pictured on the menu, but I’d hoped it would look as appetizing and full of vegetables as the other photos. Duck skin was rubbery and given how fast the soup arrived to my table, I suspect the duck was pre-cooked and thrown in to warm at the last minute. It could really have benefited from some time in a wok to crisp a bit.
What made my experience actually unpleasant was how the staff kept opening the front door for several minutes at a time, presumably because they were hot (the kitchen is at the front of the restaurant). It was a chilly, rainy night and I was seated near the front, so was uncomfortably cold. Worse, people were smoking right outside the door, so as I was trying to enjoy my food, all I could smell was cigarettes.
Maybe I’m spoiled by the great Thai restaurants in my old Chicago neighborhood, but for me this food was average and atmosphere...
Read moreRude staff, the food doesn't make up for it.
I came in with a massive headache and asked for water 3 times before being given a small glass of water (2.50).
In the back, the main proprietor was on his phone the entire time, ignored me as I called for more water. I finally got one of the other people and asked - they don't have tap water here, as is standard in brussles (makes no sense, you have a faucet)
Meanwhile the glass I am as given was so tiny - but the staff had a much larger bottle for themselves.
Fine. I'm an American tourist, things will b different here, sure. But the food itself was also bad.
Incredibly bland (there wasn't salt, I had to splash soy sauce to fix it), and far too much cabbage for a curry noodle dish. The dish itself wasn't great (so I'd say 3 stars for that), but the rude service (I had to grab the menu myself, I had to ask three times for water while I was actively trying to not pass out, the owner was in the back on his phone yelling)...
