We came to The Alchemist to have a drink while awaiting the arrival of the nearby tram (it’s right by the castle and Gravensteen tram stop). We were a group of 4 and ordered 4 different gin and tonics. The Botanist, Crafters, Citadel Reserve, and Boudier Saffron- each came in a glass of ice with a unique garnish like cinnamon stick, sprig of thyme, saffron, etc and paired with a small bottle of Feverfew tonic. Read moreThey managed to corrupt the name of alchemy. Alchemy is about purification, the art of turning things into gold. This pub uses the name out of popularity, they got nothing to do and have no knowledge on alchemy. Their drinks are overpriced because of their 'view' on the castle. That's a joke because you can see nothing more but a wall from the inside. It looks kind of cosy, lots of wood inside which always brings a certain atmosphere to a pub. But I don't see any reason why one would prefer this pub...
