GIRI — Restaurant in Ghent

I stumbled upon this cozy little café while exploring Ghent with my wife, and it was an absolute delight! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The service was exceptional—run by two lovely women who clearly pour their hearts into what they do. One of them is pregnant (congratulations!), and it’s so heartwarming to see how well they work together to create such a positive vibe. They were both incredibly friendly, attentive, and made me feel right at home. If you’re looking for a relaxing spot to enjoy a coffee or a light snack, I couldn’t recommend this place more. I’ll definitely be coming back the next time...

Dropped food on floor and still served it to customers. We were sitting with a view of the kitchen area and saw the person preparing food drop the lid off a food container and an entire block of cheese in the floor. Proceeded to put the lid back on the full container and cut up the cheese to serve. Also handles raw egg and then handles glasses without washing hands so everyone gets a bit of raw egg in their drink. Affiliate hygiene. Don't be surprised if you get ill...

Lovely place with a special atmosphere, relatively good service, democratic prices and for some reason cash only (or some rare kind of cards taken). Good selection of beers, nice cocktails served. The best bits to enjoy – the outside area, or the tables by the front window, as well as the seats in the back with the river view – very romantic. Would definitely recommend and visit many more...
