Great vintage colonial atmosphere. The lunch was priced at 65Bs for a great fresh selection in the salad bar. The soup of the day was sopa de maní, which was one of the best iterations of the soup I ever had. It was the right consistency with the best peanut flavor. The segundo, had a great variety of proteins. The steak was well seasoned and paired with a delicious creamy sauce. The steak was well done, which I am not a fan of so it would be nicer if they could ask for steak temperatures since some of us like steam more on the rare side. The fettuccine Alfredo pasta lacked some proper cheese, although it was creamy, it lacked some flavor and salt that usually derives from the cheese. Desserts, we picked flans and they were great.
We also ordered aji de lengua, and nogada de lengua. The aji de lengua was my personal favorite out of the two, a sweet sauce with a mix of a barbeque and au jus flavoring, leaning more into the sweet side. The nogada lacked a little flavor in comparison to the aji.
We ordered a Sureña, however it never arrived. They almost made us pay for it, so make sure to check the receipt. The juice was fresh and delicious, we got maracuyá and it was in the perfect balance of citrus and sweet. Very refreshing for the temperature of Sucre.
Service is pretty good, the servers and staff are well dressed. Our server was probably new, due to his lack of some menu knowledge, and lack of charisma and overall confidence. Was a little hard to hear him, honestly, but I'm sure...
Read moreThe patio at Restaurante El Solar, located in a hotel near the main square, is very nice and comfortable. Despite being packed on a Sunday, the service was very efficient. They offered both a set menu and à la carte dishes. The food was good—not outstanding—but reasonable given the price-quality ratio. Try the tinto de verano; it was pretty good. When we were there on Sunday, à la carte dishes also included access to...
Read moreAvoid avoid avoid! Very poor customer service. I was not allowed a table indoors as they are all reserved for hotel guests (okay, fine) so I waited for a table to be set up outside, where I was seated. Then, just after I had been seated I was asked to move seats just because a new group of customers arrived, despite there being other tables available, exactly the same size. No thank you, I’ll eat elsewhere, where I...
