I don't know where everyone gets these "great meals" I read about in other reviews from since we didn't get those. I had salmon with bread, which was more bread than salmon so I didn't taste the salmon at all. The bread was also very dry. My partner had chicken strips which were probably coated in crumbs made from the same bread as that was incredibly dry as well. For a main I had scampi and fries. The batter around the scampi was so thick, it (again) was more batter than scampi. The scampi wasn't even a whole crustacean, it was some sort of cut off. If I had to guess I'd say they were frozen bits. My partners second chicken dish was a bit better than the first. At least the chicken wasn't dry. But the mashed potatoes certainly were. For a country posting about their butter everywhere, here's a tip to this pub. Put that butter in your mashed potatoes. At the 1st dish I thought maybe the chef was having an bad day, because all of these good reviews didn't stack up with what we were experiencing. But the main wasn't making it any better.
But! The staff was very friendly, so that's why I didn't rate this...
Read moreMe and my mum (Dutch tourists) went here to lunch in a real Irish pub setting. We ordered a fallafel avovado wrap, hot chicken sandwich and some tea as lunch. The hot chicken sandwich was perfectly toasted and was crispy but soft, had nice hot chicken and it was without a doubt the best i've ever had. My mom really liked her fallafel acocado wrap aswell, the presentation of the dishes was beautifull and fitting for a pub. After we had lunch we decided to order a Baileys and apple crumble with icecream. Those we're also delicious!! They we're nicely plated with some as we call it in the netherlands: "stroop" and the applecrumble was really soft and warm which was terrific. The baileys cheesecake was a bit sweet for me. But perfect for my mom who loves chocolate. If you like good food and a cozy setting, definetly the best place to go in Dublin!

Read moreWe're in Dublin for the first time and were looking for a pub. I happened to look down the street and saw Brannigans, looked it up and we went in. Lovely, comfy atmosphere, great variety of beer and other drinks. Nice size menu. We both got the fish and chips, and we were both very happy with it. A great size of fresh fish, plenty of big chips. The peas were lovely. We both had a drink each, my wife had a Rockshore cider and I had a 5 lamps brewery lager and we very much liked them both. I absolutely recommend this spot. Buddy came to the table quick, drinks were fast and food was just the right amount of time from when we ordered to when it arrived, piping hot. What are you waiting for, go have a pint and supper at Brannigans!
I also got to annoy my coworkers that I was having a pint in a pub in Dublin around 2pm when they were just starting work in...
