Must try food in Vietnam Part 1. Bun Cha is one of my favorite foods and is a Hanoi specialty that you must try when visiting! Who better to describe it than the legend himself, Anthony Bourdain! RIP This audio clip is taken from the episode where Anthony Bourdain met up with President Obama and brought him to a this traditional family restaurant to sit on tiny plastic stools and eat a cheap $6 meal. You can now order the “Obama special” when you go consisting of nem or fried spring rolls, a bowl of bun cha and a nice cold Hanoi beer to wash it down! This traditional street food can be found just about anywhere in the city, but here are some of the best and most famous ones to try amongst locals and tourists alike! 1. Bún Chả Đắc Kim (featured in this video) 2. Bún Chả Hàng Quạt (a video coming on this awesome place soon!) 3. Bún chả Hương Liên (Made famous by Anthony Bourdain and Obama’s visit) Tag a friend you want to slurp up Vietnamese noodles with! And where my Anthony Bourdain fans at??!🙋🏻♀️ : : : #buncha #búnchả #bunchahanoi #hanoi #hanoifood #hanoiwander #hanoivietnam #hanoicity #hanoitravel #vietnamesefood #vietnamesefoods #vietnamesestreetfood #anthonybourdain #obama #vietnamtravel #vietnamlife #vietnamcharm #vietnamtravels #vietnamcuisine #vietnamwonders #vietnamtourism #visitvietnam #gltlove #noreservations #instavietnam #việtnam #ilovevietnam #streetfood #streetfoodstories #streetfoodlover

Perhaps it's not a place for tourists or maybe we weren't lucky to get served by someone who had a bad day or I don't know.. Let's say, their food was good, but the poor and rather unpleasant customer service sort of ruined the whole experience we were looking forward to. My partner and I went there for lunch on a weekday. This shop was introduced by some Yutube videos so maybe I had too high expectation. It was around 2pm, the shop looked fairly busy. We were led to the upper floor. As we were not super hungry, we wanted to order 2 Bun Cha(70.000 / per) and Coke and Sprite. The server lady refused to take our order and insisted that that'll be too small for us, we should get the one with spring rolls (120,000 / per) and she casually walked away. My partner and I look at each other and decided to order 1 Bun cha with spring roll and 1 regular Bun cha and drinks as we didn't want any negativity during out holiday. Well, we had to call the server 4 times to get our drinks which didn't come with any glass or whatsoever, though other customers at other tables (probably they are not tourists.) got their drinks with glasses and ice cubes. hmm. As for food, we couldn't finish everything as expected.. Big respect and gratitude to the chefs for good food, however, the whole experience was put down by the unpleasant service. Maybe we were just unlucky or I'm not sure. Other tourists like us don't have to experience anything like this, so I recommend you to try other Bun Cha places. I'm very sad to write this. Hope this will help improve their business. Cheers,

This dining establishment left an indelible mark, and unfortunately, not for the right reasons. The experience was a far cry from the excellence associated with Michelin Guide recommendations. The culinary offerings, while not outright terrible, failed to impress, merely earning a nod of mediocrity. What truly set this restaurant apart in a negative light was the woeful service. Patrons found themselves wedged into cramped spaces, creating an uncomfortable and claustrophobic atmosphere. The staff's approach bordered on aggressive, pressuring diners to hurriedly place their orders. Hesitation was met with palpable impatience, occasionally escalating to the unsettling level of raised voices. The lack of finesse extended beyond the cuisine, permeating the entire dining experience. The indifferent attitude of the staff was particularly disheartening, manifesting in a brusque handling of dishes that further detracted from any potential enjoyment. In the grand context of Michelin-endorsed establishments, this restaurant was a severe disappointment, failing to meet the elevated expectations that come with such accolades. To those seeking a memorable and refined dining experience, exploring alternative destinations is strongly advised, steering clear of the pitfalls encountered at this regrettable establishment.

I have never felt so conflicted about a restaurant as I did about Bun Cha Dac Kim. On one hand, I was blown away by the flavor and aroma of their bun cha. The pork was tender and juicy, the noodles were fresh and silky, and the sauce was sweet and tangy. It was one of the best meals I had in Hanoi, and I wanted to savor every bite. On the other hand, I was appalled by the service and the hygiene of the place. The staff was cold, barely acknowledging our presence or our order. They seemed to resent us being there, and they made no effort to make us feel welcome or comfortable. Their hygiene level was also questionable. The food preparation area appeared dirty and messy, the tables were sticky and the pork was heavily charred. I wondered how safe it was to eat there, and what kind of bacteria or toxins I was ingesting. I felt guilty and worried, and I wanted to leave as soon as possible. The eatery was an emotional roller coaster for me. It made me experience both joy and sorrow, pleasure and pain, satisfaction and regret. It was a paradoxical and perplexing place, that challenged my senses and my values. It made me question what I was looking for in a restaurant, and what I was willing to compromise for a good meal. It made me realize that food is not just a matter of taste, but also a matter of emotion.

A very good meal. Entered the premises and was taken upstairs. I was handed a menu that is simple and easy to understand. This place specializes, so it wasn't hard to pick. Once the order was in, a plate of rice noodles, a plate of lettuce, thai basil, coriander, and cilantro is placed beside the chopped garlic in oil and chilies in oil. Three to Four minutes later a bowl is put in front of you. Pork three ways - pork belly, pieces of pork, and ground patties of pork all perfectly BBQd. The broth is a *little* sweet, it is rich, and absolutely delicious. But still, I put in some chilies for a hint of heat a little garlic, and some herbs to find my taste. But find yours. You do you. I put lettuce in, and of course a chop stick full of noodles to soak up that fantastic broth. Grab a little pork, a little lettuce and those (a hont of sweet) noodles and OMG, its good. The meat is to die for. Unbelievable. Slurping os fine! Just a taste of heaven. So good. This is an authentic Hanoi experience. 🙌 Once they thought we were done they took the bowls away, started wiping the table, and said, "OK, you pay downstairs now." We were done! 🤣 The food was great, you're not there for ambience, and the service is fast, and what I expected. 💯💥

Me and my friends were looking for a Michelin guide restaurant that isnt crouded and behold we stumble upon this place by accident. The restaurant closes at 8:30pm (20:30) and it was 8:20pm that time, but still the owner invited us to go inside. There are only 3 dishes on thier menu and we orderd the combo (which is a set of all the menu) for 95.000vnd. And it doesnt dissapoint us. The soup dish is veerrrrryyyy good, the clear broth with umami flavor on the sweeter side changes taste everytime you put something on it, e.g. herb, lime, spice, pickled garlic etc. The owner told us to put everything on to the bowl "like everything" including the fried spring rolls. It was sooo good. The meat on the soup is generous and is grilled. The juices are good as well they have 3 types of cold tea drinks that has distinct flavor all of which compliments with the soup. For starters if your alone order the mild one, i forgot the name but it was the first one on the list. And if your with a group, sharing is a good way to taste different flavors. It cost about 25.000vnd per juice. The menu is well tought out from the soup to the juices. Never miss the chance to visit this place if your nearby. Highly recommended
