Golden Sun Suites Hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam In February, 2019......my oldest daughter Nicola and I spent 4 nights total (over 2 week period) at the Golden Sun Suites Hotel in Hanoi - including our first and last night in Vietnam as well as two other nights in between our excursion trips. This was a great travel decision. We were so impressed with the terrific hotel service, the value we received with the overall great price of this hotel that after our first night - we simply had to stay and make additional nightly bookings here.

Of course, as expected - the hotel rooms were spotless clean, the showers & AC are wonderful, the beds are super comfortable and our sleeps were terrific. Wifi was good. Breakfasts (eggs/pancakes/noodles/sandwich) were great with lots of variety including hot/cold options and tasty fresh fruit and salad too.

Hotel staff including Tracy, Olivia and others welcomed us with great smiles when we first arrived. They were awesome helping us organize bus schedules to Ha Giang and Cat Ba Island as well as setting us up with an amazing overnight stay with Huong Hai Sealife Cruise in Bai Tu Long Bay - Halong Bay. Everything was perfect and we can’t thank you enough.... including our foot massages & pedicures at Pure Bliss Spa which were delightful. Even our 4 hour guided walking tour of Hanoi (egg coffee etc) was fun, interesting and very well done.

We would definitely recommend this boutique Golden Sun Suites hotel to others! The central location is highly desirable for shopping, eating and exploring the Old Quarter of Hanoi.

Overall, in our minds ...... the hotel staff and customer service ranks the highest - 5 star level - and we hope we can return again soon. Thank you very much!

Avoid this hotel. They are dishonest, and will rent out rooms with faulty air-conditioning and leaking ceiling.

The whole hotel is stuffy. It is old and I think they don't wanna to overwork the air-conditioning or they just wanna save electricity bills. Reception is stuffy, they just use fan on themselves, Imagine the intense heat!

Should have checked previous reviews here as the same room, 803 on the top floor has been giving issues yet they continued to rent it out. They claimed they fixed, but all they did was send the bell boy to just press the remote control a few times and tell me to wait. Assured me that when I am back, the air-conditioning will be back to normal.

I stay for 3 nights. Only the first night, the air-conditioning was working.

Vietnam was very hot during my visit there! 37°c! Imagine the discomfort for the rest of the nights! Can't even stay in the room to rest in the day or early evening. Literally had to sleep in my own sweat!!! Staff claimed the hotel was fully booked. Can't change my room. No refund, when I asked for a discount, a miserable less than S$7 discount was given for the whole stay!

Staff was overbearing. When we check-in, they kept asking the group to give them good reviews on the spot. It was a daily harassment for good reviews even though we told them we would only write after our stay.

The staff gave excellent service. Yes, they go all the way out to 'help' to recommend places to eat. But it's for good reviews. They kept 'reminding' about reviews when they see us. Actual help needed to solve room issues, they pretend it could be fixed for the next hour or so.

There was aircond leakage and we asked for a room change; the receptionist asked us to wait till tomorrow. So what should we do? sleep with a drenched bed? He changed for us after we told him we could not accept his reason. ||Another nightmare experience with them was when they offered us a ride from Hanoi airport to SAPA. First, we waited more than an hour for their driver to pick us up. Second, their original driver did not turn up, and luckily enough, there was another impromptu driver to do their job.||Now, when we were traveling back from Sapa to Hanoi Golden Sun Hotel, it was terrifying. We told Golden Sun Hotel's boss (way earlier) that we would have a coffee in the town, and his driver scolded us for making him wait for 2 hours! Is unacceptable! And he was a Road Rage; he honked at all the cars and flashed his car headlights over the four-hour trip. He drove so fast that we couldn't sleep throughout the 4 hours of the journey. A journey of 6 hours, he did it within 4 hours but at super high speed, road bullying and driving dangerously. When he reached Hanoi, he asked us to wait cos he needed to drop off a package in Hanoi, and that's when we found out that the drop-off package was the reason he was all road raging and driving dangerously. After the drop-off thing, my-oh-my, he changed to a completely different person. To a nicer one. ||Dear Golden Sun Hotel, please blacklist this driver of yours, and you know who we are referring to.||I am sorry, but you shouldn't offer any more transportation services.
