Holiday Emerald Hotel — Hotel in Hà Nội

We were visiting Halong Bay in Feb 2011 & had booked 2 rooms at this hotel for 1 night each on the start & end of our trip for about 26USD / night.||||However, once we returned, the hotel said they had no rooms & said they had alternate arrangements for us to stay at another close by hotel which had just opened that day called Charming Hanoi for the same rate. Though initially we were livid, as luck would have it, the new hotel was spanking clean, more spacious, had better facilities as it meant to cater to business travelers & was an absolute steal for 26 USD/night. To be fair, the staff at Holidays hotel told us that the new hotel would be much better than theirs. My Charming hotel review is uploaded separately.||||Coming back to Holidays hotel, it’s well located close to the old quarter & to eating joints. The hotel is slightly old & has no elevator which can be a test if you are living on the 3rd or 4th storeys. Rooms & bathrooms are clean.||The mattresses were a touch on the harder side – we didn’t have an issue as we are used to those, but you should check this before you book.||||The hotel offers complimentary breakfast – but its fairly basic like tea/coffee, eggs, fruits & toast + jam. However, the staff at breakfast speaks almost no English & thus we had a tough time asking them to make something vegetarian or to allow us to cook ourselves in their kitchen.||||Overall experience, this is an average hotel which is a reasonable option to get by if you are just hopping in/out of Hanoi. For longer stays, would advise looking for...

The service this hotel provides is better than any 5* hotel I have stayed in North America and Europe, and that's just the beginning of my review.

The staff are friendly, polite, caring, and ultimately treat you like family. They bend over backwards to ensure you are 110% satisfied with your stay. From the doorman, to reception, to the in house tour agency, and housekeeping, they all provide the utmost top notch quality service better than any luxury 5* hotel I've personally stayed in.

The rooms are clean and elegant. Ours had a romantic theme with the way the towels were folded with flower pedals sprinkled around the bed covers. Complimentary water, fruit, and wine is a very nice bonus. The washroom is very clean, and our toilet even had a "disinfected sticker of approval" to prove that it was cleaned and disinfected. The shower has 2 heads that you can switch between at your preference.

Breakfast was included with our stay, and it was very decent. A varying selection of fresh fruit, a la carte menu items, meats, and salads both in Western and Vietnamese style were available.

Location is just off the main road on a quieter street. We never awoke from outside noises. The hotel is close to most amenities you will need (convenience store, atm, food, spas, etc)

In conclusion, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in the Old Quarters of Hanoi. I will defintely stay here again when I visit Hanoi the next time.

Staffs were very friendly and helpful. They went the extra miles to help me in prepaid data and Halong Bay trip. I felt so easy and comfortable as if at home. Staff promptness was also excellent. I booked he hotel with airport transfer just 17 hours before arrival. I was worried if they would have messed up due to the short notice. However Kate wrote to me to confirm the airport transfer 10 hours before my arrival from Singapore! What a prompt and close follow up and monitoring! The staffs speak very good English too. 6 out of 5!! In short the staffs are like your home bartler or personal assistant who ensure you are taken care of!

Cleaniness was excellent too. Mirror, table top, toilet bowl were spotless! Bedsheet was clean and spotless. The floor was almost sand-less too. For a 3.5 star hotel, this is unbelievably CLEAN! 5 out of 5!

Location = in the middle of old quarter. 5 out of 5.

Breakfast was excellent too. An A ala carte + buffet is good. Good varieties of food.

Suggestion for improvement: Further rejuvenate the rooftop to transform it into a cozier corner, currently is a bit bare. The toilet at the restaurant needs a bit more attention. Currently is being used by the staffs and shared by the guests. The management needs to decide is it for the staffs or for the guests...

Overall 5 out of 5 star! My trip wouldn't be as pleasant as it was if i didnt stay here. If the price is ok with you, just book it for a peace of mind.
