I had the pleasure of visiting The Hanoi Café during my recent trip to Vietnam, and I must say—it’s one of those hidden gems that makes your travel experience truly special. Nestled right in the heart of Hanoi, this café offers not just great food and coffee, but also a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer. Luckily, I was staying just next door at the Silk Flower Hotel, which made it incredibly convenient to discover this place. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with genuine smiles and excellent service. The staff here are simply outstanding—especially Long Penn Bing Hai, the manager, who, along with the rest of the team, made us feel completely at home. Their kindness, attention to detail, and willingness to go the extra mile really stood out. The food is absolutely delicious—beautifully presented, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. Whether you’re stopping by for breakfast, lunch, or just a cup of Vietnamese coffee, every dish is a treat. One of the most memorable moments was witnessing the traditional coffee-making process presented by “Long “and learning about its history—it was both fascinating and enjoyable. The ambiance is cozy and aesthetically pleasing, perfect for relaxing or catching up with friends. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, The Hanoi Café is the kind of place that offers a little escape from the city’s hustle and bustle while still being right in the center of it all. If you’re in Hanoi and looking for a place with delicious food, exceptional coffee, and heartfelt hospitality, don’t miss The Hanoi Café. I can’t recommend it enough and will definitely be coming back the next time...
Read moreI’ve been here twice, once on April 14 and another time. Both times were weekends. I can understand being busy but it was busy at the expense of good service, hiring staff is about $1 per hour. I suggest hiring people just to bring food to tables and help clean the tables, they don’t even need to speak English, just call the servers over to take orders. Many restaurants in Hanoi even have someone sitting on floor 2 ready to take orders or help call the servers over. On floor two I felt like I was waiting for the waiter a lot, and I noticed other people, too.
If service improves then you can make more sales and get customers in and out faster. Servers didn’t write down orders, which led to mistakes and some things being forgotten, which stressed me out.
Food was delicious but I waited 20’ to get extra blueberry syrup for my French toast, by the time my friend went downstairs to get it my food was cold. Duck pho is phenomenal. Unique to the restaurant, and authentic in taste.
Second time here I wasn’t happy with the portion for the price, I left still hungry. I asked for a glass of water, I could see they had their own filtered water in a pitcher but staff went to give me Lavie then had an attitude when I asked again for just a glass.
Due to the stressful nature of the service (left wondering: has my order been placed? Will everything come? Has something been forgotten? Having to follow up with staff, staff being stressed and at times rude) in addition to the price, I won’t be back.
Yes, food and coffee here are great!! Would be a nice spot for tourists who don’t mind the things I’ve listed. The restaurant itself is lovely and charming,...
