I recently dined at Riverview, the new sister restaurant to the well-known Melbourne spot, and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. The setting is elegant yet relaxed, perfect for a special evening or a leisurely grazing session.

The menu blends Italian, Australian, and Khmer influences beautifully. I started with my favorite — the beef carpaccio salad. Thinly sliced tender beef served with capers, shaved parmesan, fresh rocket, and a light extra virgin olive oil–lemon dressing — it was fresh, delicate, and full of flavor.

For my main course, I chose the Ribeye No Bone 300 g — Australian Black Angus, tender, marbled and juicy. Cooked exactly to my liking, it came with baked marinated baby potatoes and a choice of sauces. The real showstopper, though, was the kangaroo steak cooked to a perfect medium rare — tender, flavorful, and uniquely Australian, it summed up Riverview’s bold yet refined approach perfectly.

I was also lucky to visit on a night with outdoor live music from a talented three-piece band. They played mostly American songs with a rich, captivating sound that added to the atmosphere without overpowering it.

Service was warm and attentive without being intrusive, and the wine list complemented every dish. Overall, Riverview delivers a premium dining experience that feels both sophisticated and welcoming. I recently visited this restaurant and ordered a pork chop, expecting a well prepared dish with good texture and flavor. Unfortunately, what I received was quite disappointing. The meat was extremely tough, almost impossible to chew, and lacked any seasoning or taste. It did not resemble the usual pork chop I’m familiar with, whether local or imported.

I politely asked the staff to check with the chef, he came back with the response: “This is how we make our pork chop.” but no action was taken. In the end, i left the meal untouched. No complaints whatsoever. Despite this, I was still charged in full, which felt unfair given the poor quality of the food.

I believe the restaurant should pay more attention to the quality of their dishes .A good pork chop should be tender, juicy, and enjoyable unfortunately, this was the opposite. I hope they take feedback seriously and improve their food quality...

I was flagged down on the street and I was a little reluctant because, although the restaurant looked nice, I was recovering from a cold virus and I was afraid my taste buds would not allow me to enjoy it much. Was I ever more wrong! The food was absolutely amazing! I had the Fish Amok and Fresh Mussels. I have been intentionally avoiding rice and other carbs for dietary and health reasons but the sauce from both dishes paired so well with rice that I practically licked my plate.
