Will not return... But glad I went because their bathroom border / trim tiles are identical to my family's Chee Hsin Tiles, that was produced hundred years ago.
It’s unfortunate that a table of dozen people is having dinner when we walked in. The ground level hall (with a/c) is empty except the party of dozen, with a crying infant (shouldn’t you gtfo?) and a toddler that roams around otherwise empty room. I’ve two children and they knew their limit, that going banana in private, like inside the car and at home is ok, although they rarely did.
There are four Michelin starred restaurants, we’ve dined with Kroya and Malis first because I like their sophisticated and elegant decor. The decor of this one and Embassy are nothing to write home about. So I don’t have high expectation.
Good service. Nice chopsticks and the chopstick rest, made from palm tree; petty blue tableware (although they’re of the same design but the bowl looks better - less is more…) , shabby utensils.
The tasting menu of the north: too much food for two and, this is the deal breaker that I won’t return: just very ordinary homey foods. The low ceiling made the dining experience unappetizing.
I like the raw veggie, minced pork and rice the best. I learnt one new veggie: wing bean, it may taste better if cooked - I generally don’t like raw beans.
Margarita is ok but the mojito with passion fruit is really good and...

The exterior decoration with many plants and a very beautiful well-lit ficus, a plant wall and other delights for the eyes. Then a monumental wooden staircase transports you inside where the same emotion in front of so much beauty embraces you. Beautiful lights, tables with red tablecloths and white tablecloth covers, paintings and lots of photos from the Indochinese era and some very interesting newspaper excerpts from the 1900s. why people come there, usually to eat there. And there, it is the same delight of the taste buds. I ate a shrimp curry with a coconut sauce, simply delicious, and a sorbet with homemade ice cream, always delicately decorated with an orchid flower. And the waitresses, like flowers, are lovely, and Chon, the manager has become a friend, even though we only saw each other twice, but I really felt his sympathy towards me, a French tourist, and I towards him, benevolent Cambodian manager. In short, only one good address for fine and refined cuisine, the Indochine café. Moreover, for us tourists, the prices are quite reasonable, less than 15 € for a dish, a dessert and a coffee. A small supplement for a glass of good French wine and the menu is varied! Congratulations to Chon...
Read moreWe were thrilled to find Cafe Indochine! This restaurant looks like an old two story home. The staircase leading up to the second floor was all teak wood. Decked out with massave 12 ince plank wood floors, teak base, solid take doors, and even teak ceilings. The interior decor was simply elegant. Kitty started off with a watermelon 🍉 cocktail, and I had the best mojito that I have ever had. Each drink had little crumbles of cruchy palm sugar! For appetizers, we had Duck Brest Saled! Wow! and Pork Larb unbelievable! Kitty was so full she passed on the main course. My main course I had Stir-Fried Tifu With Roasted Eggplant. The tofu was also the best that I have ever had. It was wok-fried, simmered in fermented bean sauce. For dessert, I had the Banana Fambe With Passion Fruit sauce. Kitty had Kompot Creme Brulee!!! Ok, they earned 7 stars. Google needs to add a few stars for the restraunts that deserve them! I would make reservations it looked like the fill-up...
