Yaaassss 🙌 Love me some poutine!
We were lucky enough to pop in while the owner Eric was there to find out a little bit more about the place. He’s actually from Montreal and owns quite a few food businesses in town. Seemed like a stand up guy and I’d love to support his businesses. If you are looking for a little bit of a taste of Canada 🇨🇦 this would be a great spot.
We visited this place as more of a “snack” because we wanted to try it after walking by and seeing the menu.
We decided to get two items to give it a try - Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich and the smoked meat sandwich.
First - a poutine isn’t a poutine without cheese curds! He brings in the cheese curds from Quebec and they are the perfect texture and the perfect amount of melty! The gravy is a great consistency- but also such a great flavour! And it was topped with Montreal smoked meat - which, as I’m guessing you can imagine was imported from Montreal!
Montreal smokes meat sandwich had a hardy amount of meat with some mustard. The meat was moist and full of flavour! I’ve been lucky enough to visit Schwartz Deli in Montreal and this definitely gives you a similar vibe!
The location is small, great for pick up or there is about 15 stools you can eat in. It is incredibly clean and well looked after! We figured he had just opened for how pristine everything was - but apparently he’s been open since summer!
Would recommend this stop! The price was great for the...
Read moreMy first time visiting Banff so I besides sight seeing the mountains I wanted to try their local poutine.
It was a very cozy restaurant, luckily did not come in a busy time and the service was quite friendly.
All I ordered was 1 large poutine and 2 small poutines, presentation was really good, although I was hesitant when I heard the gravy was vegetarian cause I did have an underwhelming experience with vegetarian gravy, but after taking that first bite that doubt melted away. Simply put It tasted delicious. The perfect amount of cheese curds, fries, and gravy for this size. Man if I lived there I would visit more often. If I would suggest is to eat it right then and there at the restaurant, it would have been much better warm as it was freshly cooked. All and all if I ever come back again to Banff, I'm definitely coming back for another poutine, probably get more...
Read moreAs someone who loves to try the poutine from different restaurants and chip trucks, I was excited to try Banff poutine after seeing the other reviews. It was a very disappointing experience. Simply horrible food.
Got the Montreal smoked meat poutine ($19.76) and a hamburger ($7.38) with everything on it (ketchup, musterd, and relish).
Poutine: Nearly half of the very little meat on the poutine was chunks of fat without any meat. Fries were overcooked. Gravy was okay. It was a bit too salty for my personal liking. However, for over $20 there are much better food options nearby.
Burger: Patty was overcooked to a point it was hard and crunchy. The bun was burnt.
I read the other reviews, and maybe I got unlucky...but wanted to share...
