Was there August long weekend. The main floor inside was not very busy. Have not been there since January 2023. Normally make a trip for dinner there yearly.

The menu has changed again since last being in. Overall it is very disappointing now. The highlight is the chips are still made in house and are good.

There is no more enchilada option on the menu. Tacos are the go to order. Used to get a meal with rice and refried beans as part of your meal, now you get only what you order.

Our order was plain nachos and 2 burritos. The nachos came with salsa and sour cream on the side. The cheese was very well done, burnt and crispy. Yes, there are people that like this on the sides but not the entire order. If I was a server I would not have taken it to the table. There was very little cheese for the whopping $25 price tag. Very disappointing. We had one chicken and one pork burrito. You used to get the burrito wrapped and served with rice and beans, as mentioned above. Now it comes with a few chips. The choice with it was salad which was a few greens. There is more lettuce in a taco from Taco Time. Once again very disappointing for the price you pay.

If you’re a tourist looking for Mexican food in Banff the location is fun with drink options, but you’re better off going for something else to eat.

What used to be something that we looked forward to making a trip to Banff for is now very disappointing and will look for alternative options in the future. They have lost our business as long time...

Magpie and Stump in Banff promises a unique experience with its Mexican-themed ambiance amidst the mountainous landscape. The restaurant certainly delivers on its promise, offering a lively atmosphere reminiscent of Mexico.

Their quesadillas are a treat for the taste buds, with gooey cheese and flavorful fillings wrapped in a warm tortilla. They strike a perfect balance between traditional Mexican flavors and local ingredients. The fajitas are no different. Sizzling and aromatic, these fajitas definitely pleases everyone. The generous portions of tender meat and colorful veggies make for a satisfying meal, perfect for sharing among friends or family. If i were to collapse there, you can definitely revive me with the tacos. Magpie and Stump's tacos are a must-try, with a variety of fillings to choose from, including savory meats, fresh seafood, and vibrant vegetarian options. Each bite bursts with authentic Mexican flavors, transporting diners to the streets of Mexico.

It is also outstanding how when you walk in here, you'll find people of all races and creeds there to enjoy the meal. I love it

Magpie & Stump: A Mexican Gem in Banff Looking for a fun and flavorful dining experience in Banff? Look no further than Magpie & Stump. This vibrant Mexican restaurant offers delicious food, a lively atmosphere, and exceptional service. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a warm and inviting ambiance. The decor is colorful and cheerful, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. My server at Magpie & Stump was the highlight of my dining experience, Marcel was absolutely fantastic. Not only was he friendly and attentive, but he also had a wealth of knowledge about Banff and its surrounding area. He provided me with great recommendations for things to do and see, making our trip even more memorable. Get that man a beer! The menu features a variety of classic Mexican dishes, all prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The portions are generous without being overwhelming, and the prices are very reasonable for Banff. I tried the chicken enchiladas and the beef tacos, and both were absolutely delicious. The flavors were bold and authentic, and the presentation was beautiful. If you're looking for a fun and satisfying meal in Banff, I highly recommend visiting Magpie & Stump. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is lively. In fact just swing past and ask Marcel for a good time as I'm sure he'll be more than happy to help as...

3.6⭐️!! Tucked Inside this little unassuming building at the end of the block, you will find Magpie & Stump Mexican Restaurant. As soon as you walk in, you immediately feel the Mexican vibes through the decor throughout the establish. This restaurant is quite popular and has been around for years. Nearly all the tables were taken and of course, several patrons patiently awaiting a table to sink their teeth into the delectable food this restaurant has to offer. We had a variety of tacos including the vegan options which were delicious. The Fish tacos were excellent. Very crispy on each bite, the battered cod did NOT disappoint. Nice blend of Raddish, pickled Onion and finished with a nice Valentina Crema which adds a tiny bit of spice with some Vinegar-y notes. The Bison tacos were nearly as good as the Fish tacos. They use a Cilantro Crema which leaves the taste of Cilantro lingering for hours. I found there was quite a spicy kick in the Bison tacos, almost as if there is some blend of Habarnero hot sauce mixed into the Créma. The chicken wings were amazing. Seasoned with a taco mix, crispy bites and cooked to perfection, these did not disappoint. Next time you visit Banff stop on in to the Magpie & Stump to experience their amazing Mexican inspired creations.

Highly recommend coming to Magpie & Stump. The food is delicious and everything we ordered was very well sized and filling. Very nice cozy place and seating is well laid out to where you don't feel crammed in. Service was amazing and they made sure we were taken care of and asked if we required anything else. Probably one of my favorite places to eat while we were in Banff. Would definitely come back again. Kids and wife enjoyed their food and drinks. I had the baja shrimp tacos and they were delicious, my wife had the 3 assorted taco dish (she had shrimp, fish, and beef) she really enjoyed them all but especially the beef taco with the corn tortilla. Kids had the cheese quesadilla and the beef chimichangas, and they both ate as much as they could. Kids also had the non alcoholic margaritas, the strawberry one was soooooo good! We also had the guacamole and salad with chips, this was scrumptious, the chips were good size with decent thickness not like most places they give you flimsy chips that can't hold anything. And my wife also order the wings with the mole sauce and we were very pleasantly surprised with how good it was. So if you're in the mood for Mexican and you're near, check this place out. You won't be disappointed!
