I always get excited for BBQ places. After reading the reviews I decided to give this place a try. Underwhelmed to say the least. I ordered a half pound of brisket Side of Mac and cheese Fries Cornbread First of all the combo number 1 came with 1 meat and two sides. However, the brisket was a $3 upcharge (disappointing) Mac and cheese was an upcharge. I guess that’s ok. Cornbread $3 for muffin sized! Now let’s get to the food quality. The brisket was awful! No crust and had a boiled texture and look. Little smoky taste, but stay away. If you know what real brisket should be like, You will be very disappointed like I was. It’s chewy, they gave me cuts with a lot of fat, which by the way I know is how brisket is and if it’s good brisket I eat all that good stuff. However this fat wasn’t rendered down and was not eatable. They serve the brisket with BBQ sauce and it needed it. Good brisket should be the way it is. To me, it’s like putting bbq sauce on a steak! Gross! Now the mac and cheese… bland as bland could be. In their defence, I’m disappointed with mac and cheese everywhere. My wife ruined me for Mac and cheese everywhere, because her’s is so damn good! The cornbread was like a heavy chunk muffin. Cornbread should be light and fluffy. For $3! I was expecting much better. Finally the fries. The fries we absolutely amazing. Only thing I enjoyed in the entire meal and they gave me lots, which was good because I didn’t eat the Mac and cheese and again, very little meat on the half pound of awful brisket. Sorry if I’m too harsh, but after reading all the positive reviews on here, I was extremely disappointed. Maybe I caught them on an off day, but I wouldn’t recommend this...
Read moreCame here on a Saturday between lunch and dinner because I was in the area and I saw the great ratings. The girl at the front cash was friendly and offered a few things when we told her it was our first time here. She recommended the crispy chicken sandwich and cornbread, even though it was a BBQ place. Prices were pretty decent for dining in, and they do have an extensive menu as well as a menu with daily specials. We paid, took a seat, and we were called up to the front when the food was ready. The tables were slightly dirty. Given it was during COVID, I would've expected decent cleaning between seatings, not to find bacon bits still scattered on the table from the last guest, so I ended up wiping down the table myself before eating. The food itself was good, but not amazing. The crispy chicken sandwich that was recommended was a little on the salty side, but was fried perfectly, crispy but still moist. The honey butter cornbread was made in a muffin tin, but quite dry and lacked the rich cornbread flavour and aroma. My partner also ordered a pulled pork sandwich. There was a depth of flavour, but you could feel that the pork had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time as the pieces were dry. The one highlight of the visit was their rack of rare candy / soft drinks on display. They had quite a few candy / chocolate bars and soft drinks where you wouldn't be able to find in an average store. I was hoping for a little bit for of a wow factor during my visit, given the ratings and reviews, so hopefully, it'll be better next time I'm in the area and decide to stop...
Read moreHi! I recently discovered this restaurant so I’ve been coming for a few months now, usually at least twice a month, and I wanted to share some feedback. My first visit was with Julian, who was fantastic, and since then I’ve always had a great experience with the food. We usually order the sliders, ribs and wings, plus two drinks, and the food always hits. On average, we spend about $50 each time we visit.
I came on Friday, September 19, and Saturday, September 20. On Friday, I asked to upgrade my fries to a poutine. The staff member said it wasn’t allowed, even when I offered to pay an upcharge. It was disappointing, but overall I was still satisfied, especially since I used my SPC discount with no issue.
However, on Saturday at around 5:45, I had a negative experience. I tried to use my SPC discount again (which clearly advertises 10% off), but I was told I couldn’t use it every day and that the staff member would “get in trouble with her boss.” Instead of applying the full discount, she only removed $2. With the discount, my total should have been $52.88, but I was charged $56.05. It may seem like a small difference, but it left me really disheartened, especially since I’ve been a loyal customer who comes specifically because I’ve enjoyed my past visits.
It would mean a lot if your promotions were honored consistently, as advertised. I’d also appreciate a solution here, because otherwise I don’t feel comfortable continuing to support a place that doesn’t treat regular customers fairly.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope to...
