My visit a couple of days ago was ...well okay and actually kind of disappointing. Especially since I've heard lots of hype about Cafe Gravity.
I was there around 6:30 I ordered Vegetable quiche and Potato soup. I paid $22 and change including a beer. I thought I'd seen the Quiche for 12.00 on the board but i could not tell and she said it was considered a meal but it came with a soup. Minor point though you go to a coffee shop for the atmosphere. .
Food: The quiche crust edge was pretty warm but the bottom was watery and the rest of it Luke warm. Flavor was good. The soup was a disappointment unless it was cold soup and the server forgot to tell me? it was Luke warm but the flavor was good. Unfortunate because they both would be awesome if served hot. It is a coffee shop so I was not expecting 5 star but...at least the canned beer was cold :)
Atmosphere: Restaurant has great décor and I loved the jazz tunes they were playing.
Service: The lady that served me was nice and quite attentive. Kind of just what I'd expect at a coffee shop. She served another lady in front of me and then me handed me my number and brought everything out to the table a few mins later.
Cleanliness: When paying for my food there was a huge fly and a few others around the till/food area
I go to sit down the table I picked is dirty. LOL I guess I'm that type that finds the only dirty table...even though there was only 3 people including myself in the restaurant but I'll give them the benefit since maybe they just had a dinner rush.
While sitting at the table there was a nice wasp buzzing around in the window inside next to me. Not sure if this is normal but maybe I just caught them on a bad day. With flies and bugs that found themselves inside the restaurant. If the food had been hot maybe I'd not be...
Read moreWe would give zero stars for the service, particularly from Vadim, who was in charge of the cashier during our visit. He served us a beef pie instead of the chicken we ordered. When we pointed this out, he insisted that we had ordered beef without double-checking and claimed that the prices for chicken and beef were the same. This raises concerns: what if a customer has a special diet, like a Muslim who doesn’t eat pork, or someone with a medical condition that prevents them from eating beef? Should they simply accept the wrong dish because the prices are the same?
Additionally, when we requested a receipt, he claimed they had run out of paper but then suddenly produced one. Based on the photo I uploaded, the receipt clearly shows we ordered chicken, not beef. Furthermore, the pie, coffee, and hot chocolate we received...
Read moreThe siphon coffee here is definitely something that every coffee lover should try at least once. It is the cleanest and purest coffee I've tasted. I also love their salmon/cucumber croissant sandwich. Place is a little more upscale than your local Starbucks so do expect to spend more $ here. Love the atmosphere here. I always try to aim for the seat by the window with all the cushions so I can people watch whilst getting work done. The staff here is friendly and the Internet connection is excellent. Nice and close to everything downtown and finding parking in the area isn't too shabby either. Usually open late & i do believe they have open mics from time to time. Lovely local place for...
