Tiger Sugar is really popular in Asia and I had it first in Philippines where there’s always long waiting line. Me and my partner were surprised Calgary got a franchise and gradually YYC Chinatown is becoming modern Asia, which is amazing! There were no customers when we came on a Saturday afternoon. I’m glad they have a free Underground parking, which you have to call them for the passcode. We ordered their #1 Brown sugar boba+pearl cheese mousse milk tea (same thing we always order in Philippines). Staff service was cheerful and fast! For a small drink, I think the price is very expensive $7-8 w/tax. We kinda expected the price, but not the small cup size. Taste of milk was a meh, nothing special. Cheese mousse was bland and wasn’t at least salty. Boba and pearls were soggy and too sweet. I don’t want to compare it to the original store in Asia, but for its price point.. it’s not that worth it. But they have wide variety of tea and coffee drinks so we might try that next time. They also have milk tea popcorn ($13) and brown sugar milk tea ice cream, which you can also buy in groceries for a cheaper price. I really hope their business flourish, but it’s really hard to like their brown sugar milk tea.

Small cup size, $7 for a singular drink, and you will get charged for no ice (45 cents). Which is ridiculous. Milk is relatively the same everywhere in Canada. So is cream and sugar. However I believe the prices are aligned with Tiger Sugar the chain so not really their fault. Our party got 4 drinks total. Brown sugar milk boba, coffee jelly boba, the green tea with foam and number 5, brown sugar milk. They’re all under whelming. Not anything special, I would say you can get something comparable at other boba locations. Their pearls are not particularly good either, not chewy and not firm with a crunch, kind of soggy. Out of all four drinks the coffee was the best, but it’s on the sour coffee bean side. Staff is nice, drinks were made fast.

Overall the freshness/flavours/quality are justified with the pricing of the drinks. I find it confusing that there is long list of menu items with only subtle differences (e.g. Boba + Pearls, or one or the other, or with/w.o cream topping etc. ) . I also keep forgetting the difference between Boba vs. Pearls. Some drinks only come in a single size unfortunately. Most of them look the same (I get that the brown sugar stripes are representative of the branding/ tiger aesthetic) and wouldn’t be able to tell the difference which drink is which without checking the label. The star of the show is the creaminess and milk flavours, which I find overshadow the potency of the tea (green tea or black tea seem to be the common choices here).

Was really looking forward to trying out this new place but unfortunately the drinks were a let down, especially for the price and smaller cup size. Some of the drinks in our order were incorrect but we did not realize until we got home.

I was also told that 'no ice' modification has an extra charge because they 'have to give you more product'.

Tried the black sugar boba milk with cream mousse, black sugar caffe latte with cream mousse and boba, black tea latte with coffee jelly, black sugar black tea latte with boba (cream mousse was missing), and black sugar caffe latte with cream mousse and coffee jelly (ordered caffe latte with coffee jelly for a diabetic family member, but was charged for cream mousse and boba + jelly - ended up being over $9 and was too sweet).

The original boba milk with cream mousse was very sweet. I prefer the brown sugar pearls/boba black tea latte from another bbt chain in Calgary. We did enjoy the coffee jelly and caffe...

Tried for the 1st time through online delivery the other day.

Had it at 100% sweet since I don't know how sweet it would be. It's VERY sweet compared to other bubble tea stores I've been to but overall the taste was good and I know now for the future what I would change to fit my taste if I were to try tiger sugar again.

Love the creme brulee drink and that the passionfruit oolong came with the seeds (I know some people don't like seeds). Will probably go for 50% or less depending on the drink and without the creme mousse (makes it to creamy for my liking. Also tried mochi for the 1st time, I thought it would be like ball form but it was more like pudding pieces but thicker. Not bad but kind of a weird almost tasteless.

PS: this order was made around 2-2:30 and the pearls weren't rock hard but you can tell they were older as it was more hard then chewwy which is why I've...
