Drive through team are too young or distracted to accurately take orders. They've been open for two weeks or so and still no phone number? Fries are doughy (regular fries) it seems. When we first ate here on opening day, we were interrupted during our meal TWICE to ask if everything was ok.....second person that asked waited til our mouths were full before asking. Criss-cut fries are too salty IMO. Also, of the three times I've been through drive through, they don't put the receipt in the bags!....Got the owner's number from a different store - complained about under cooked fries and no receipts for drive through. He's going to make good by giving us a new meal each.
Update : Feb 1/17 - So the owner didn't even call the manager to let her know that we were coming and to put us on the "free meal list", therefore we had to explain everything again. She nodded in acknowledgement, but was not paying attention. When I said to her that all drive through customers should be given a receipt, she smiled dismissively, as though it was never going to happen. the quality of our re-made Honey mustard Chicken burgers was a little better, because we asked for more sauce than the barely adequate amount delivered yesterday. As for the chili fries - much better - they were made with some modicum of care...but my wife's poutine was sloshed into the paper box without a care. curds were clumped together on one side and the gravy just slopped on. To top the iceberg that this vessel will no doubt crash into and sink was that the pop machine was improperly set up, splashing bits of syrup everywhere with too much air pressure. I may sound like a picky bastard here, but I've worked in the fast food industry when I was younger, and this place will never share the same quality of product presentation as the other vendors we've come to love. Why are there fifteen employees all crammed into that little kitchen? It's not that busy!
Sayanara, Carl's Jr!
Update Aug. 30/17.....we've been back a few times because it's close. Burgers seem to have gotten a little better. Fountain pop on the other hand is something they just can't seem to set up right. I'm not convinced the managers or senior staff know what the products are supposed to taste lime, but they just don't get it either way. Save yourself the disappointment and get...
Read moreStandard fare for this chain of burger stands but not for me. I stopped in for lunch and ordered an original burger combo (no onions) thinking that would be the safest way to go as this was my first visit to Carl's. I was handed a large vessel for my softdrink and before I had a chance to fill it a server approached me with my order on a tray. She followed me to an empty table and deposited it with a smile. Unwrapping and exposing the burger I attempted to bring it to my mouth but the burger literally deconstructed itself because of the excessive white sauce that had been spread over the toasted bun and contents. Seeing that it was impossible to eat it as presented I approached the order desk to ask for a knife and fork. I eventually ate most of the burger meat and contents but not most of the bun. I found the meat overdone and the lettuce, pickles and tomato slices slathered in too much sauce. For me, the portions were too large and poorly presented. The service was great however. If I return I will ask for a child's meal...
Read moreI drove to Carl's Jr but the outside lights were off at night, so I assumed it was closed. I tried to call but no one answered and a message in Chinese played on voicemail. I thought I dialed wrong and called again. I got the same message. Then I saw someone go in. It wasn't closed.
I told the person behind the counter that the outside lights were off but she checked the switches and said they were all on. I played her the Chinese voicemail. She checked the number. And it played the same voicemail. She didn't say anything.
There was so much sauce on my hamburger that the meat wouldn't stay inside the bun. It was too wet and messy.
Anyway these are all fixable mistakes. Maybe there aren't lit signs at night but then lots of people may think it's closed. Also perhaps someone should answer the phone and if they can't they should have a message that at least says Carl's Junior in English and the hours.
And be careful with putting too much...
