Nice variety on the menu here. To start, tried some tempura and the tuna tataki -- the former was pretty solid and the latter wasn't bad. The a la carte sushi and sashimi was overall decent but the presentation was not great. Other impressions of the traditional fare: The ika was probably the best of what I ordered. The tamago was too cold and dense. And the botan ebi heads were perfectly deep-fried but the sashimi itself was not as fresh as I'm used to. Overall, not a bad restaurant and one could do allot worse.

Best sushi in town hands down. I’ve been going here since the name used to be ZEN 8 many years ago and the quality is still very good. My every solo and group experience here has been positive. For the lunch hours it’s a bit busy, but if you want a more quite atmosphere go after 6pm. The quality of the sushi and sashimi here comes close to the premium stuff you get in Japan. The service is also excellent and mostly managed by the brothers who own the locations.

We went for a date night, as someone with a shellfish allergy it’s worrying to eat at places that have dishes that can make me very sick. The staff here were supper accommodating. For the food, 10/10 very well balanced flavours, perfect temperatures for hot and cold foods. Sides and sauces were on point. As well the cocktails were next level perfectly balanced We will forsure be returning in the future!

Had a pretty good bite at Kabuku last night. Since it was a saturday night and Calgary's downtown is pretty much completely vacant in late evenings / weekends, it wasn't too busy and service was spot on. There was a few things I noticed that show the place is looking after all the details - was met at the door as soon as i walked in and went right to a table (near the window, other guests were also at tables /booths near the windows), got a warmed towelette right off the bat, and menu had a good selection without being too big and also showed some of their strengths (buying local product where possible, like beef, charitable donations etc). Food was expertly prepped and tasted fantastic - i'd recommend getting the trio of bluefin, salmon and yellowtail. When the server makes a point to specifically tell you to try them without soy sauce, ginger or wasabi, they're going to be good. All of the rolls were pretty fantastic. Price was a bit on the high side but on par with most sushi restaurants of...

I go here regularly for lunch. The sushi is always fresh and they have a large selection and a dedicated gluten free menu that is celiac safe; however I did get sick (glutened) here once on some take out a few years ago. I think it was the soy sauce that they packed for me - it was labelled GF but I think it was swapped by mistake. Now I just bring my own GF soy sauce and haven't had any more issues!

They get pretty busy here during lunch hours so I recommend making a reservation. They do leave the counter open for walk-ins though and they always do their best to accommodate people without a reso. The rolls average about ~$14/each and their fish is consistently top-shelf quality. All in all I highly...

This is one of the best sushi restaurants in downtown Calgary. A bit pricier than most but you get what you pay for. Meat portions and roll sizes are fairly generous too, so order on the smaller side of what you might normally. Don’t pass up trying one or two of the hot appetizers on the separate menu. The prawns and shrimp dumplings are something else. The sashimi and nigiri quality and sizes are top notch and while the rolls are a bit on the less innovative side, I haven’t had one that I didn’t like. Service is usually quite good here as well. Highly recommended if you’re not trying...
