I didn't go to the Palomino for the food. No, no. (I mean, I ate, but not a lot of options for vegetarians). Iwent because of the live music. Intimate and engaging, I saw seven acts from Alberta and Saskatchewan over two weeknights and was not disappointed. I like Indie and Punk... that's what was on the calendar. The bands played in the basement, so it was truly an underground scene. I was a happy camper. Bands listed in the image, below, for night 1; night 2 line up was: Witch Victim, Window Lamp, and Switches (this was Switches' penultimate show, btw... which is sad for fans because they are good... really good). All acts were cool; I particularly liked Lova Lamp, Window Lamp, and Switches. What is it with Canadians and an affinity for lighting Guess being that far north makes illumination important or something. Any way, if you're in Calgary looking for a night out, be sure to check out Palomino. (cover to see bands- CA$16/ person/ eve). Note: cover was applied in the basement, not on the main floor dining area.

Our family had a nice lunch Saturday celebration for my son and sister’s birthday. Food was great and this was our second time back. The first time my son and I went we parked at indigo than notice they had a free parking sign at rear inside their restaurant so this time we remembered to parked at back than after lunch we discovered my sister and I had parking ticket and my dad was attacked by a guy who happens to own all the private parking even palomino. Way to keep your customers from coming back, went back inside the restaurant and express our thoughts and gave them our parking ticket. We were told they will take care of it and was very apologetic. For a size for that restaurant I thought business should have free or discounted parking… I told the ladies at Palomino we are not paying for that parking tickets given we just payed close to $200 for lunch. They need to have better arrangements for customers to park specially the ones from out of town. Update: Manager did not followed up and we ended up having to pay $80 in total for 2 parking tickets that my sister and I had.

Was so excited to finally try Palominos food...we were unfortunately extremely let down. First off, the service was great. Maybe us being the only people in the restaurant may have helped that fact but regardless, our server was awesome. As for the food...it’s unfortunate when the sides are the best part of the meal. The beans, bacon wrapped corn on the cob, garlic fries and corn bread were all darn good. The meat at a BBQ place should be the star, but that was not the case today. The ribs were decent overall as they had some good flavor but a bit too chewy. Our brisket was hands down the worst brisket either of us have ever had. Somehow it came across more like roast beef than brisket. It was far from tender and had virtually no smoke ring or bark. I wanted to love this place as I have heard so many great things but I will not return based on what we were served. Food 2/5 Service 4/5

I was in town over the May long weekend for a conference. The staff at The Palomino were extremely helpful and accommodating for our very large group. Not on were they easily able to make space for us, but they put the Edmonton Oilers on the screen for us. It was so appreciated. The staff who helped us when we got tho the restaurant where all very kind and helpful! The food and drinks were to our table to very promptly and they were all delicious. As a Celiac, I felt so comfortably to eat and the staff were very helpful and make sure I had food that I could eat. It was an excellent experience and we hope they’ll take a large party back again! But we for sure will be coming back in smaller amounts. Thanks for the excellent experience!

All you can eat ribs Monday night. $25 bucks. This place was recommended to me. It has a good atmosphere not too busy when I came at 445- 6pm. As most places when you order all you can eat ribs they send out first portion as full rack and then half rack at a time afterwards. This makes sense but unfortunately you can't order the next portion until you finish the previous..ok..its too bad that it takes over 15 -20 mins to get the next portion after you order it when it's not busy. The ribs on the second portion had very little meat and were overdone compared to first rack. I should of done the brisket at the end as I was hoping for a little more out of a BBQ place. Service was good and even apologized for wait of ribs...

Had this place suggested to me while I’m downtown Calgary. Close walking distance to night life as after our dinner we went out and carried on with the evening and never once needed a cap to access anything. When you enter there’s a persons sitting there directing you where to sit. Tables are made from a verity of things so don’t expect a completely flat table ourselves was made out of a door I believe. Washroom on main floor was always business but there is one downstairs very easy and mot business to get to. They were out of Brisket when I went but had the pulled pork which was just as good. Service was busy and not overly timely but to be expected during dinner. Price was good. Would go back again.
