Proof — Restaurant in Calgary

All I can say is three letters after visiting this establishment last night, WOW!

My business team and I visiting from Toronto spent one day in Calgary for an event we had to attend earlier and we ended up winding down the long day at this upscale and high class cocktail bar.

My friend had looked up places for us to go to in the new to us city and this Bar came up as one of the top 5 in the whole of Canada. Number 4 if I’m not mistaken to be exact.

After being to a lot of “acclaimed top 10 bars” in Canada in the past few weeks and being completely disappointed by some, I am so happy to say that this bar does live up to all the fame and hype around it.

Hands down my favourite bar I have even been to in my life so far! From the second my team and I entered the Bar we were hooked.

The atmosphere is very captivating and the ambience is so comfortable as well as welcoming. We all had a variety of drinks which were all mixed to perfection by the bartender staff, our waitress Julie was exceptional as well with taking care of us and making sure we had the best experience possible.

The food was so scrumptious I am still thinking about my new favourite poutine I tried as I’m writing this review. The recommendations Julie provided were all golden.

My only wish is that this bar isn’t so far from where I’m staying now in Edmonton!

This place is a must try and I can see easily why they are rated so highly. Whenever I have the next opportunity to be back inside this heaven on earth I absolutely will be...

I was actually quite disappointment at the service the hostess provided. I walked in alone and asked to be seated. She said they're only seating full parties of 2 or more. Well what if I came to this bar solo and wanted a drink or some food? I found that disrespectful and discriminatory against people who come alone. Many business people often go on work trips alone and walk into a bar hoping to have a drink or a bite to eat. So they can't be seated at this place? Anyway, I then told her my friend is just parking her car and will be here in a few minutes. She told me to just stand and wait...Meanwhile a few parties came in after me looking for tables, and she proceeded to write their name down on the "wait list." My friend showed up and we asked her for a table, she then said, "Oh sorry there's a wait list." So I just looked at her and said, "Why didn't you tell me this when I first came in and before those people wrote their names down?" Since I came in before them, I thought that would have been fair. She just said, "It wouldn't have made a difference anyway," and walked away. That actually made no sense...If there's a wait list, and people put their names before mine, then obviously they will get seated first. So yes it would have made...

From locally crafted cocktails to some of the best service I've received, Proof YYC has exceeded all my expectations. My partner and I were down for the weekend and we thought that we'd give them a shot and boy was it an amazing experience all around. This old time lounge with a modern design will have you feeling as if you're sitting somewhere in downtown NY on a dark night as rain falls.

My highest recommendation would be "Forty-two" which is a rich cold brew filled with citrusy aromas, all well being held together by a smooth gin that left my taste buds wanting more.

For the prices I would say they are well justified on all fronts of quality, craftsmanship, and taste. I attempted to go back again Saturday night but was told the wait would be over an hour and a half long, so if you're planning on coming down I'd suggest getting there very early as they don't take reservations. Another important thing to mention was just how well covid guidelines were followed. The team really made my partner and I feel safe and were always available to answer questions when called upon.

To the FOH team, you all did amazing this past weekend and I was sure to tip accordingly. I will be back for another round when I'm visiting...
