Waves Coffee House - 8th and 8th — Restaurant in Calgary

I really like the convenience and the cleanliness of this location; however, I was a bit disappointed this morning as the server did not seem to know if the items I ordered were available. Actually, instead of serving me the muffin that I requested from the showcase, he went to the back, brought a box out (with 3 muffins in it), and took a cold (stale) muffin and put it in my bag. Okay, I thought, perhaps this was the norm, but, the bagel I asked for was wrapped in plastic in the show case (indicative of staleness). The server then unwrapped that bagel and toasted it (as I requested) and gave it to me.

I got back to my office and was very disappointed with the taste of both items and eventually threw them out.

Friendly: Yes (100%) Clean: Yes (100%) Drinks: Yes (spot on).

Baked goods: I now realize why this are not a part of your menus. It this is part of your service, prep first thing in the morning....

Waves Coffee House downtown Calgary is a quaint, small spot that feels more functional than cozy. The coffee is decent but nothing extraordinary, making it a solid choice for a casual iced coffee rather than a coffee connoisseur’s destination. The staff are great—friendly and welcoming—which adds to the positive vibe. It’s an ideal place for a casual meet and greet or to sit quietly and people-watch, especially since it’s usually not busy. The presence of a Bitcoin ATM is a unique and modern touch. However, it’s not the best venue for serious work or meetings due to its size and atmosphere. Comfortable leather chairs and lots of seating. Perfect temperature. Safe, clean environment with friendly service at this location. Perfect for small groups or solo customers.

My go-to is anything dark mocha (iced in the summer and hot in the winter) and Nanaimo bar.

Never had a bad experience at Waves.
