Cafetería style food joint. You order, find your seat and then fetch your own food. Tipping not required here as its really self serve. (food, seat, utensils, plates, bowls, cups water, napkins, trays and clean up). The kitchen and dining area is really loud with industrial grade fans and venting. Also, it's a cell data dead zone against the far wall away from the windows. The automated voice that alerts patrons of their order number is not only a little on the louder side, but lacks proper controls in repeating the number over and over again in rather quick succession until the order is picked up. At the time of entry and order the were only 4 tables taken. Our order took 40 minutes to recieve after payment. We got the chicken satay skewers $6.00, roti canai $3.95, pineapple fried rice $11.50, sambal kang Kong tung Choi $14.95, and boneless hainanese chicken on rice $11.95. Total was $50.77. A place like this is very expensive comparatively speaking. So, please be aware before trying this place. The satay skewers were slightly burnt/charred. The chicken was dry and without much flavor. The peanut sauce it came with was okay. Thick and peanuty. The roti canai was stiff and cold upon arrival. The sauce was somewhat flavorful. The roti itself was overly chewy. The pineapple fried rice was over cooked, shrimp flavorless and lacked actual pineapples. The sambal kang Kong tung Choi was poorly executed. The vegetable was cooked well but there was no flavor but some spice and definitly salt. The hainanese chicken was hit and miss. Some pieces were tender while others were dry. The rice was overcooked and the pickled vegetables were overly gingered as part of the pickling process. The ginger sauce was not good and lacked balance. The hot sauce was average for flavor profile, not overly spicy and had some flavor. Overall the only dissapointing part about this whole experience was how poorly the food tasted in terms of flavor, temperature, texture and overall balance. Perhaps this is the jitters from being a newly open store and I hope they get better. But as it sits, I am reluctant to bring guests for the...
Read more[New review August 13, 2025] I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the service and food at Singapore Hawker. My elderly aunt recently visited your restaurant and had an appalling experience that I feel compelled to share. She ordered the laksa and crispy squid. While the laksa was acceptable, the squid was completely inconsistent and largely inedible. Some pieces were okay, but others were so tough she couldn't chew them. Because of this, my aunt politely asked for the squid to be packed to take home. This is where the situation became unacceptable. The server offered to cancel the order. My aunt said that would be ideal if possible. A different staff member then came to the table and offered to either cancel the order or recook it. My aunt again confirmed that she would prefer to cancel the order. After this second conversation, we were shocked to see three different staff members huddled together eating from the very dish that was meant for our table. Following this gross display, one of the staff members came back to the table and told my aunt they could not cancel the order after all. This is an outrageous and unsanitary way to handle a customer complaint. First, you offer to cancel the order and then go back on your word. Second, and most egregious, you allow multiple staff members to eat from a customer's dish, then return that same dish to the customer. This is a serious violation of food safety and hygiene. I find this behavior to be completely unprofessional and frankly, disgusting. It shows a severe lack of respect for your customers and basic food safety standards.
Food was served hot. We got the mee goreng, tofu goreng, and hainan chicken rice. All were good. Wish there was more noodles in the mee goreng dish. What was a bit off-putting was the staff rushing you, by vacuuming and putting up the chairs on our table. Took away my water before I can take a sip. Granted they are closing soon but still it's not a good feeling to be rushed. Cashier should have told us that they were closing soon and not accept dine...
Read moreI understand restaurants need to make a profit and I want all my favourite restaurants to continue making profit to stay in business. Having said that, my experience from this place was very disappointing today.
The green beans and kari tofu were of small portions but tasted good. I can't say I would recommend them but there was nothing bad about them. This review is regarding the kari lembu.
It could just be my own personal opinion but I found the portion size to be on the smaller side. I am okay with receiving a smaller portion as long as the food itself is fresh and delicious but that was not the case. The kari lembu's sauce tasted great but as you can see from the size of the container it's quite small, and there was one big piece of potato in it. Sorry for the gross looking photo of meat but that was actually all pure fat. There was about the same amount of lean meat in there as the amount of pure fat, plus a large piece of potato and that was it. The rice serving is the same size.
Again I feel very bad for doing this but people have a right to know what they're paying for, and I just don't think this meal was worth the price. The small portion size wouldn't have been a big enough deal for me to go out of my way to write a review but the pieces of fat really pushed the nail straight into the coffin.
I hope the owner understands I have no malicious intent and am also not merely complaining about the price or even the serving size. I would not leave a review for those reasons. The fat is what really pushed me over the edge. The pieces in the photo were literally 100% fat. Half of my kari lembu was inedible fat that my body automatically rejected and spat out. I am...
