I ordered and paid almost $130.00 for my daughter's cake long before her birthday only to be disappointed with how poorly it was made. The characters were comouter printed that needed the help of sticks to stay up and/or were just stuck to the cake. My daughter is not even home from school and yet the cake is ruined already. I feel so disappointed and ripped off and angry as a mom because my daughter is so excited about it and will surely not gonna be happy seeing a bending Elsa BACKWARDS. I have expected so much for paying a lot with a 4" cake!!!! And for clarification as well, there's not a time in the conversation when I made the reservation that the cake was priced at $300. I do appreciate the labor that was put but not the lies. There was also no chance that I mishandled it as I was a few blocks away and had a vehicle when I picked it up. A sincere apology would have suffice for it instead of harrasing phone calls and insulting text messages, I am not a cheap person, just wanting value for my money. Don't worry too, you didn't need to ban me in your store as I won't ever comeback.

For my 50th birthday, ST ALBERT location on 50 Thomas Street! I celebrated in style with a high tea party that exceeded every expectation! The private room was stunningly decorated, making me feel like royalty, and the attention to detail was incredible. The food? Absolutely divine. From the delicate finger sandwiches to the decadent pastries, everything was perfect, but the highlight had to be the macaroons. Each bite was a melt-in-your-mouth experience, with flavors that were beyond indulgent. Honestly, they were to die for! This venue isn’t just for milestone birthdays—it’s perfect for any occasion, whether you’re celebrating turning 5, 50, or anywhere in between. It’s like stepping into a birthday dream. The whole event felt more than 5 stars, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking to host a private gathering. Their dedication to making every detail perfect guarantees an unforgettable experience! The staff were so accommodating at the ST ALBERT location.

This was my first time ordering a cake in Canada, and I chose the mango chocolate cake with a white exterior and macarons on top. Even though my English isn’t very good, the owner was incredibly patient and explained every filling in detail, which made me feel really comfortable ordering. When I went to pick up the cake, I accidentally went to the wrong branch, but the owner immediately told me not to worry and quickly helped me solve the problem — such amazing service! ❤️ The cake itself was absolutely delicious! The outer layer had a soft mochi texture, and the mango mousse inside blended perfectly with the chocolate — the balance of sweet and tangy flavors was just amazing. Even the macarons were beautifully made, crisp on the outside and full of flavor. Overall, both the service and the cake were outstanding. I’d give them 100,000,000 stars if I could! Highly recommend this place ✨✨✨

French Bakeries: A Culinary Journey into Parisian Delights

Introduction

French bakeries, often known as "boulangeries" in France, hold a special place in the hearts of food enthusiasts worldwide. Renowned for their artisanal craftsmanship, delectable pastries, and rich traditions, these bakeries offer a true taste of France's culinary heritage. In this review, we'll take a delightful journey into the world of French bakeries, exploring their history, iconic offerings, and the unique experience they offer to both locals and tourists.

Historical Background

The roots of French bakeries can be traced back to medieval times when guilds regulated the production and sale of bread. By the 18th century, bread had become a staple of French cuisine, and bakeries were a common sight across the country. The French Revolution brought significant changes, including the nationalization of bread production, leading to the standardization of the iconic baguette we know today.

Iconic Pastries

One cannot discuss French bakeries without mentioning their iconic pastries, each a work of art and a testament to the skills of the bakers. The buttery and flaky croissant, originating from Austria but perfected in France, remains a breakfast staple around the world. Pain au chocolat, a buttery pastry filled with rich chocolate, is another classic delight.

Macarons, small round cookies with delicate shells and various flavored fillings, are the epitome of elegance. A true French bakery excels in creating macarons with a perfect balance of textures and flavors.

Tarte aux fruits (fruit tart) showcases seasonal fruits atop a light pastry cream, while éclairs boast a creamy filling and glossy icing. Madeleines, little sponge cakes, evoke nostalgia with every bite.

Baguettes and Beyond

While pastries take the spotlight, French bakeries also offer an array of delicious bread. The baguette, an elongated loaf with a crisp crust and a soft interior, is perhaps the most iconic. It is not just a simple bread; it's a cultural symbol of France. Pain de campagne, a rustic country bread, and brioche, a sweet, buttery dough, are equally popular choices.

The Experience

Walking into a French bakery is a sensory delight. The inviting aroma of freshly baked goods fills the air, drawing customers inside. The display showcases an assortment of colorful pastries and neatly arranged bread, creating a feast for the eyes.

Bakeries are often adorned with a rustic charm, wooden shelves, and vintage décor. The sound of soft chatter and clinking of coffee cups adds to the warm ambiance.

Many French bakeries encourage patrons to take their time, savoring each pastry with a coffee or tea. The café culture, deeply ingrained in French society, promotes leisurely moments of enjoyment.

Community and Tradition

In France, bakeries serve as community hubs, where neighbors gather to catch up, and tourists immerse themselves in the local culture. Bakers often take pride in upholding traditional techniques, passed down through generations.

The hours leading up to breakfast are particularly significant, as locals rush in to secure their favorite baguettes or croissants. Witnessing a French bakery come alive during these morning hours is a sight to behold.

Innovation and Fusion

While French bakeries stay true to their roots, they are not averse to innovation. Some modern bakeries experiment with fusion pastries, combining French flavors with influences from other cultures. This blending of culinary traditions creates unique delicacies, appealing to diverse tastes.

The Art of Baking

Behind the scenes, the art of baking unfolds, where bakers work with precision and dedication. From kneading dough to precisely timing baking, their skill is the secret ingredient behind every delicious creation.

Passion and love for the craft shine through in every pastry, ensuring that customers experience the authentic flavors of France.

Conclusion

French bakeries offer an enchanting journey into the heart of Parisian delights. With their rich...

I have been to every bakery in the city, and this is by far my favourite! As soon as you open the door, you are invited inside by the scent of coffee and butter.

All their pastries are fresh baked in small batches, so the chocolate in your almond pain au chocolat is still gooey and their croissants are still flaky, no matter what time you stop by. They also have a small selection of yummy breakfast and lunch options, including crepes, which are always made fresh to order. I have ordered a special holiday cake here, too, which was ready on time, looked beautiful, and got rave reviews from the family!

Every time I come by, the shop meticulously clean. They even have cosy couches and chairs and a selection of books and magazines so you can hang out as long as you want - perfect for cold winter weekends in a town like Edmonton. Can you imagine lounging and reading a book in Duchess on Saturday morning? Hahahano.

The owners/chefs, who were classically trained in Paris, are so friendly and welcoming. They always remember me and my favourite order, and I am impressed with their commitment to their customers. One weekend, while I was enjoying my breakfast, someone else came in and ordered some food and a coffee to go; when the customer left without his coffee, she grabbed it and ran out after him, without a jacket in -15! She was able to catch him in time, thankfully.

It is true that the bakery is in a rougher neighbourhood. But the owners see the potential in this community, and contribute to making it a better place. They would never say this to get recognition for themselves, but they donate all their extras to the shelter around the corner (so sweet!). This bakery has a lot of heart. Check them out the next time...

I was pleasantly surprised ordering from Macarons and Goodies through a delivery service. It was near the end of the day for the restaurant, so I was a little concerned that they might have been out of some of the items I ordered, but I received my order in full.

I ordered a quiche and a variety of macarons in different flavours. The quiche was warm when I received my order - not too hot, which was great as it didn't get dried out or mushy. I got the 4 Seasons and I highly recommend it. It was a delicious blend of veggies and cheese with a buttery crust. The sundried tomatoes were a good balance to the overall richness

The macarons were fantastic. I tried the different flavours over the course of a couple days and all were great. They had a perfect crisp outside and chewy inside with a good ratio of filling. The more traditional flavours I got (dark chocolate, raspberry) were well done and tasty. I also really enjoyed their selection of more unique flavours. The cinnamon and chai is phenomenal, passionfruit was bright and flavourful and the lavender and honey had a nice subtlety to it.

Can't wait to go back to the restaurant in person. I can easily see this becoming a favourite spot for a...
