Around noon today my girlfriend and I stopped at smittys for brunch, her favourite. After the host got our cutlery/menus out for our table, we were informed she wasn't allowed in because she refused to throw out her new un-opened XL timhortons coffee, also her favourite. I told him she still intended to buy an orange juice & would be purchasing a smittys coffee for myself. He said no. We politely asked if we can transfer it into a un-labeled cup as that seemed to be the issue. He sternly said it was policy & told her she was not welcome!! She had previously worked within your company for years. Throughout this time, she was never aware of this policy that is evidently very strict. Both our family's are regular customers to this location, spruce grove & manning when it re-opened. When informing them of our embarrassing experiance, they said they were also unaware of this rule & had never be turned away for that previously. Being as it was apparently slow, we were so surprised they turned away loyal paying customers over a $2 coffee. Dennys, our next stop, had a better approach however. I would prefer to give them no stars. We went to the west end Travelodge Smith's under the impression the 'kids eat free' with the purchase of an adult entree. We order three entrees and three kids meals. First the eggs were gross and we were given new ones which still had an odd taste. And we all ordered water with our food because it's hot out. They would not honor the kids eat free because we choose water instead of pop! Again this was not once mentioned to us when we ordered only after we were done. And we had to ask for the desert that goes with the kids meals. This bill ended up being 80+ dollars because they never said water didn't count as a beverage and last time I checked it was a drink you have with your meal. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS WEST END TRAVELODGE SMITTYS. I WILL FOREVER GIVE A BAD REVIEW. I AM SO ANGRY I SPENT THAT MONEY THERE AND I WOULD HAVE GONE SOMEWHERE ELSE TO SPEND 80 PLUS DOLLARS. Went to the Northgate location week of Dec 21. This time with 4 family members. The nachos were good. Wings on the small side this time but acceptable. Barb the server was exceptional. Again, some of the appetizers weren't available which is very annoying. Sliders were good also. We had a good family visit with good food and drinks! Happy New Year.

The Smitty's on Princess Eliz Ave is improving. It is quite an adjustment moving from the mall to an independent location which has more issues to deal with. The food is good- nachos could be layered though; specials are awesome especially half price wine for two days. Patio needs some work. The reward program is great to keep you going back. Thanks for the birthday coupon.
