This is the Jamaican spot you are looking for. If the cashier was friendly like those at Denny's I would have walked out.
We wandered in wild eyed and looking a bit disoriented because we were hungry. After a big fight over the last two days neither of us had eaten. I had been eyeing that spot. Sometimes you have to set aside your differences for the sake of food. We walked up to the counter to make our order.
True to form "dem nah ave dat!" Only two options were ready. So we got those. I did not even want options because I can never make up my mind so extra points for that.
I have learned from the interwebs to avoid copy cats that are nice and polite. I was looking for a waffle house type of experience. Today was a good a day as any to die.
I wanted the chef to run out and buss someone in the head with a frying pan and calmly go back to the kitchen and finish prepping my food. The adrenaline rush infuses extra flavor. I settled for eyeing up the passa passa posters asking my boyfriend if he has ever seen such women in real life. Attacking while defending is my forte.
Food was bussin! I have never seen my boyfriend eat so much. Portions were very good because I have leftovers. The lady in the kitchen was nice. She came to ask me what I wanted on the rice. Thanks Miss Ma'am. Your cooking probably bridged a pathway for communication and might save my relationship.
The young fella at the front was doing his job lol did not even offer me a menu. Never cracked a smile and seemed annoyed at my presence. I was giddy with excitement. I knew right there and then the food would be bussin bussin.
Only thing missing was the music to set the ambience for a 360 experience. Next time cue up the Vybz Kartel or something.
10/10 will return.
This review is not paid for and there is no sarcasm here. Go eat there. The food...
Read moreAt first site, walking in, the place reminded me of a little Jamaican road side restaurant that you would happen onto while driving along the ocean front road from Ochi to Montego Bay. It was our first time visiting this sweet spot and we only saw it because of a little Jamaican flag along side the road. I didn't know what to think at first, but the gentleman working the counter was pleasant but reserved. We ordered, not really knowing what we were going to get, but when the food came out we were pleasantly surprised! The presentation was excellent! And portion sizes were good value for the money. The presentation prompted us to keep shopping! We bought drops and a tropical drink as well. We had a 15 minute drive home and the food was still warm and fresh! The salad tasted fresh cut and the oxtail was moist and succulent! Well done! We will definitely be back! We can't believe that we just found this place and the gentleman said they have been open for three years!! In short! It's...
Read moreTERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE!!! As in the food, staff, manners.. In the Caribbean, we do not burn the hell out of dishes and call it cuisine!! From the main entrees to the pastries & desserts, everything was burnt beyond recognition and taste. Jerk chicken was a JOKE--more like jerky. Coconut drops almost broke my damn teeth on it. You could SEE the once beautiful pieces of coconut scorched to death..ROCK HARD & blacker than black. Grater cakes were solid blocks of sugar with a hint of coconut!! This establishment is not authentic in any way. There is no LOVE in this food whatsoever--an insult to the Caribbean culture. SHAME ON YOU. We threw out our food immediately & washed our mouth out at Sauce--now that is love and pride...
