Chicking — Restaurant in Halifax

One of my coworkers told me about Chicking, so I took a look at their reviews which was very impressive, so tonight I went to try it out for the first time and was I ever glad I did! In one word "Wow!". Their chicken takes fried chicken to a whole new level!

If your craving amazing fried chicken, this is the only place you need to visit. My wife and I ordered a U & Me Chicken combo and KY daughter ordered the Knight Gung-Jung. Both dishes were awesome. The chicken was really crispy and not greasy with a good crunch. The dishes we ordered were not spicy as we wanted to try the flavour first. Next time I plan on trying the spicier chicken burgers.

In addition, our waitress Laney was super helpful telling us about the menu which we really appreciated. Thank you for your hospitality and great service. We will be back for sure.

If you enjoy crispy chicken that is not greasy, amdbyou have not tried Chicking, your really missing out!

//Update// Today we thought we would return and try some different menu items. We ordered a 4pc side of chicken to share. I ordered the C-King Burger and sweet potato fries. My wife ordered Dan's Burger with sweet potato fries and my daughter ordered the same as last time because she loved it so much.

Honestly, my pictures do not do their food justice as there is a lot to them when you view from the side. The C-King Burger was amazing and my wife loved Dan's Burger was awesome and a lot of food. My daughter still loved her meal as well. Actually, it was my 11 year old who asked to come here tonight and I am glad she did!

This place is HRMs best kept secret when it comes to fried chicken. Other major retailers cannot even compare to this place. Your missing out if you haven't tried this restaurant!

Chicking! It's a shame to see Lets-Ko pivot to this, I was at first a bit sad but then I actually had a go at the location with my spouse.

Given the pandemic spacing it was pretty well thought out. Decor was very clean.

Parking was appropriate for the location.

We ordered the 2 person combo (2 burgers + 4 pieces of chicken + fries + a bottled pop).

First of presentation was exceptional. All on an oven tray neatly placed.

Honestly it's awesome. It's as close as Canada will get to the Korean Chicken burger Chain "Mom's touch" which is a truly epic place.

The Fried chicken sauce was a combo of sweet garlic. It's put on the side to apply as you see fit.

The chicken itself was well cooked. Absolutely crispy outer layer with juicey chicken inside. The chicken is well battered to say the least.

The chicken burger was exceptional as well. True to most of the Korean Chicken burger places I've been to in korea it's a well cut fried chicken between the bread, not ground chicken patties. This adds an exceptional texture experience to the burger compared to other places with a chicken burger. The buns were also exceptional I'm not sure of it's baked in house but either way good stuff, it's a light bun that really helps the whole mouth feel of the burger.

The fries included were good, not the star of the show but overall well executed. No complaints.

Other bonus was the little finger gloves provided, really hit home the feeling of dinner away from home.

The price for this was about 30 dollars pre tip. A bit high but well worth it. We were stuffed!

A Mixed Experience, But Worth a Second Visit

Tried the Korean fried chicken spot on Spring Garden in Halifax. The service was excellent and the place was very clean, which made for a great first impression. I appreciated the little thoughtful touches like the clip to hold the hot chicken and the bucket for bones, smart and convenient!

I ordered the regular fried chicken, and honestly, it was a bit disappointing on its own, pretty bland without sauce. Thankfully, the sauces helped bring it to life, so I’d recommend adding one.

One thing I liked is that they offer full or half chicken options, which is great for sharing. But if you’re picky about white or dark meat, be aware, they serve both mixed together, which might not suit everyone.

Overall, it’s a solid spot, and I’d definitely come back to try some of their sauced or specialty options next time. I promise to change this to 4 or 5 stars if I change my mind about the...
