Trendy little spot. Cool atmosphere upstairs (dimly lit, industrial), good tap list (not the best I've seen, but seems good by Halifax standards), hipster/cool kid crowd. Was very busy when we went, so we ended up drinking downstairs, which is really just two banks of bus seats flanking two pinball machines, walls decorated with graffiti, old rap music (Biggie, etc.) playing - the only reason anyone else came downstairs was to use the washrooms. It was a very different experience than upstairs, was was dark and sleek, whereas this was brightly lit yet distinctly depressing. It felt like we were drinking in what was meant to be a waiting room for the washrooms, not another level of the restaurant. I don't think I should hold this against them though, as no one has to sit down there, we chose to because we didn't fit in with the crowd upstairs. If I hadn't been dressed like a tourist and felt a little gutsier, I would have stayed upstairs and had a better time. If I was judging it apart from the weird 70s NYC subway with pinball machines vibe downstairs, it's still a four-star experience. I would go back, just with different people and a...
Read moreOpen 5.5 hours late on Uber Eats for takeout and delivery (and only after I called to ask if delivery was even available). The menu on their website and the menu on Uber are different, with items missing from Uber Eats that are listed on the restaurant's website and different prices for those who order on Uber than for those who order by phoning in. Speaking of missing items I didn't even receive everything I ordered (and paid for).
As for the items I did receive... the Tokyo fries are just bad. The Buffalo chicken sandwich was fine and clearly made with good ingredients, but not worth the headache of trying to order it when so many others are on the market (like the one at Battery Park, which slaps).
I cannot see myself ordering again, let alone coming in for...
Read moreWhile sitting at the bar, I had the pleasure of meeting a handful of industry professionals from around Halifax, while enjoying a few locally sourced beers. I wish I could remember the name of the sandwich I had (Torto-something), but I happened to be sitting next to it's creator, and the creator of the whole menu, Graham. It was literally the best sandwich I have ever had, and I made sure he knew it. I highly recommend Stillwell for the food as well as the excellent local beer selection (12 rotating taps and an impressive bottle list as well). Thank you for a filling and delicious evening. I will be back before I leave the city, and every...
