I saw this place regularly while walking past and figured I'd find it on Google. The reviews were quite good, and I love trying new spots.
This place won't win any awards for its atmosphere or storefront, but honestly it's just a humble take out spot. I won't fault them for the lack of interior design choices.
The two things I'll comment on here are the food and the price. The food was pretty good. I ordered the Jollof Rice. Plenty of rice and the sauce was pretty good. The guy working here made it in the back while I was there. The chicken has really decent spice on it, and despite clearly not being cooked fresh, was not too dry, but wasn't the best chicken. My biggest complaint about the food was the lack of chicken. There were two drumsticks and a huge amount of rice. I would have loved 3 or even 4 drumsticks for the amount of rice I got.
But the biggest issue is the price. The menu on Google says the Jollof Rice is $16, but at the store it said $17, and then when I went to pay it was for some reason $19.25? For the amount of reheated chicken I got nearly $20 isn't even close to an acceptable price. For $10 or even maybe $15 including tax, I'd be back here in a heartbeat for it's alright take-out African options, but for the price of a sit down restaurant with freshly cooked meat, I'm not going to be returning unfortunately.
I really hate that because the food was okay, and I love to visit local small businesses over multinational chains, but you've got to impress for that price, or do something solid for an affordable price. You can't charge premium prices for...
Read moreI'm not sure how this place has a 4.7 ratingâmaybe the in-person service is miraculously betterâbut honestly, this was a major disappointment. I love egusi soup, but this was by far the worst I have ever had, and it was even more underwhelming for the price.
My partner ordered egusi soup through Uber Eats, and the food arrived cold as if it had been sitting out all day. The quality was so bad it was inedible, and I couldnât help but wonder if it was leftover food since there were chewed-up bone pieces in the soup.
On top of all that, my partner paid around $45 for the meal, and the portion of egusi soup we received didnât even fill half of the small takeout container.
Itâs clear this restaurant doesnât prioritize health, safety, or customer satisfaction. If youâre craving Nigerian food, save your money and go somewhere elseâyouâll find better quality at a much more reasonable price....

I ordered Jollof Rice with Plantain and Coleslaw. What I received was a very generous portion of rice, freshly fried plantain smothered in the most delicious sauce as well as a side of coleslaw. The meal was satisfying and left me wanting for nothing else. I could eat this food for breakfast, lunch and dinner and be happy.
When I returned the next day for more I was greeted with the owner's story from back home. It was so refreshing to be able to converse with the person who had just cooked me a delicious meal. It made me feel warm, welcome and at home.
I will be returning as soon as possible.
