Visited from Vancouver and EVERYTHING we had here was absolutely delicious. We had the bacon cheese burger, cheese steak sandwich, hobo soup, cheesy broccoli & cauliflower soup, creamy bacon soup, & beet borscht soup.

The bacon cheese burger had the juiciest & meatiest patty coupled with the freshest vegetables, each bite was better than the previous and we couldn’t have enough.

Next we had the cheese steak sandwich that had a generous about of both steak and cheese, together with the softest n tastiest bread we’ve ever eaten just blew us away.

All 4 soups we had were so well balanced and delicious that we decided will be back just before driving back to vancouver to buy lots home to freeze. Try as many soups as you can here because it is truly amazing. We don’t even usually enjoy beetroot but we LOVED the beetroot soup here so much.

Not only will the promise of the quality of food blow you away, their service too is top notch and we couldn’t recommend this place more. You will not regret visiting this diner.

EDIT: We came back again for our 2nd and last day in kelowna. This time we had the southwest burger, mushroom soup & 2 other soups. We also bought their frozen soups and meals to bring back to vancouver!

The southwest burger was SUPERB. There were these caramelized onions that paired SO WELL with the juicy meaty patty. All the soups were nothing short of delicious and exceptional too. So good we wish we could eat here everyday.

Crystal and her husband were such sweethearts. The overall vibe in this restaurant is super cozy and homely, and everyone working there felt like they were all part of a family. We talked to Crystal, her husband, Kathy, & the nicest lady that moved from Vancouver island and they were all so friendly! They also communicated and treated each other like a big family which we thought was a great work culture and made us want to spend more time here!

Thank you for being the “Cherry on top” of our Kelowna trip! You all are amazing and we can’t wait to be back in...

I've known the owners/operators/culinary wizards Crystal and Steve for the better part of my adult life, and they are two of the most wonderful and kind people you could ever hope to meet. Their second-to-none personalities go hand in hand with their food and ingredients. There are no better soups, period. My personal favourite is Crystal's Doukhobor borscht. It's the perfect balance of everything that makes a great soup, and my nickname for it is "the elixir", as it packs enough veggies and high quality ingredients to destroy anything ailing you. Its taste is unreal, and even if you don't like borscht... you will be converted. My second favourite has to be the Thai chicken soup, just spicy enough to make you sweat a bit, packed with so much veg and chicken that it's a full meal in a bowl.

Steve's burgers are classic homemade goodness, no filler or grease and loaded with fresh toppings, and they have so many choices to explore. I also love their reuben sandwich on sourdough (I know, blasphemy, but I prefer sourdough over rye, and they are more than happy to swap it!).

Portion sizes are generous ("I'll have fries on the side", proceeds to receive a mountain of sizzling hot hand cut fries that melt in your mouth), service is warm and personable, the community style long tables and booths are great for meeting new people and gushing over the food.

This place is an absolute gem, second to none. Throw a dart at their menu and you'll get a...

I went into little hobo for my first time alone. I have lived in Kelowna for years and even worked around the corner forever and just never found someone to go try this beautiful little Kelowna institution. And I believe I have done myself a disservice for so long.

I was immediately met with a bustling yet welcoming environment, everyone seems genuinely happy and excited to feed every one.

I waited in the, surprisingly quick queue, and was pleasantly greeted by the owner who asked me my name, and how my dang day was and just genuinely interested in my presence. Needless to say I felt taken care of before I even could order.

I placed my order of the redic burger and the hobo soup, and then went and sat down. I was promptly quality checked by the serve staff and given water. My food did not take long at all and it was, and I cannot stress this enough people, the actual best meal I have eaten in the longest time. The specific soup, the very very wonderful soup, was a cabage and burger soup IT WAS THE ACTUAL BEST SOUP, and the burger oh my the burger. I can't even properly convey the emotions this burger gave me.

As I was finishing my meal, the chef and the owner had both started genuine caring conversations with me.

I'm absolutely in love with the whole thing. The space, the people, the atmosphere.

I'm very very glad I went in today and I know where I'll be having more frequent lunches. Thank...

Little Hobo Soup & Sandwich Shop – A Kelowna Classic! Tucked right in the heart of downtown Kelowna, Little Hobo feels like stepping back into a simpler, warmer time. The décor has that perfectly old-school charm — the kind that tells you this place has stories, laughter, and a lot of soup behind it (since 1975!). Every meal comes with those little touches that make you smile — a handful of chips, a slice of fruit, a glass of water waiting for you before you even ask. It’s not fancy, it’s familiar — and that’s the magic. Their soups are the real stars — original recipes that taste like home in a bowl. You can tell they’ve been doing this for decades, and there’s a reason locals keep coming back. It’s the kind of place where everyone seems to know each other’s names, or at least their usual order. If you’re ever downtown and craving comfort, warmth, and a dose of old-fashioned hospitality, Little Hobo Soup & Sandwich Shop is exactly where you should be.

Local gem that is only open during limited hours on Monday through Friday (10 to 2). Very friendly staff who come to your table often to check on you. Had the Bacon Swiss Burger, which I had to eat open faced as the beef patty was very thick (definitely don't skimp on the meat). The bacon retained its crisp and wasn't greasy. Also had the Hobo Soup, which was very hearty with thick chunks of vegetables and some ground beef. The Cheesy Broccoli & Cauliflower Soup was equally as flavourful, thick consistency and full of ingredients. You order and pay at the counter, and they bring out the food to you. They're great at remembering who orders what, to bring patrons the correct order where you choose to sit (as the staff don't provide you with table numbers). They don't have many smaller, private tables, but offer more communal-style seating. Homey atmosphere. Would come back and recommend!
