I made sure specify that we wanted no icing and chocolate sauce on the waffle but they still made a mistake, although they realized their mistake right away and fixed it. You can clearly see a miscommunication between front and back of the house.
3 different people tried to take our plates away because they saw one of the plates was empty even though we told them we were still working on it. At the end we gave up and let the 3rd server take our plates.
Once they took our plates, they immediately came with receipt AND machine for us to pay. They rush you and it’s really not my style of brunch of a place you go to relax and have breakfast. I understand if there was a line outside but I don’t like places that rush customers to pay even though we’re sitting still drinking our drinks.
Now for ingredients. I wouldn’t say they’re using top quality of anything. I had the steak omelette and it was not a sirriloin at all 🤣 it was dry and chewy, felt like it was terrible quality. The cheese was processed. If you know food, you know all ingredients weren’t premium and processed. Their ingredient is very profit focused to have high margins. Nothing wrong with that, just not my type of restaurant.
I understand this place is new so I’m giving them a 4 star so it doesn’t affect their business reviews too much and gives them a chance to improve reading their customer’s feedback. I’ll be back one more time in the future to see if it’s improved. I’ll be much more harsh on my critique the next...
Read moreMy husband and I have visited The Nook twice since it has opened and have been delighted both times. The restaurant is cozy, bright and welcoming. The food is affordable and portion sizes are good. The staff have been friendly, and both times the owners checked in on us to make sure we were happy with our food.
The first time we went for breakfast, I had the vegetarian eggs Bennie and my husband had the classic breakfast. They were both great. The hollandaise was just right, no messing around with weird flavours. On our next visit, we had lunch with our granddaughter. She picked the kids waffles, which were perfect. Half of a full size waffle for a three year old. We didn’t think she could finish it. She did! It came with fresh fruit and cream, drizzled with chocolate sauce. She loved every bite! I had the chicken Tikka wrap. It was tasty and flavourful. My husband had the BLT. He was delighted with it. It was exactly what he wanted. We would recommend The Nook on Bernard. The prices are comparable to the area. Plenty of seating. Clean and bright. I like the art too.

Read moreI don’t usually leave reviews, but my experience was frustrating enough to warrant one. From the moment we sat down, the service was uncomfortable—particularly from the owner, who hovered around our table the entire time, making it hard to relax or enjoy the meal.
As for the food, it was underwhelming at best. The dishes tasted like something you could easily throw together at home, and the hollandaise sauce in particular was a letdown—it had the unmistakable flavor of Knorr hollandaise powder you can pick up at Walmart. For the price, I expected far more originality and quality.
The decor was equally disappointing. It looked like a random collection of items straight off Temu or Wish, clashing in style and adding to a generally tacky and confused atmosphere. It felt more like a themed garage sale than a cozy café or inviting bar.
Overall, The Nook seems to rely on the idea of charm without delivering substance. I won’t...
