I have been a long time loyal Red Robin customer (since I was a toddler) and I would have to say that tonight's service, food and atmosphere for my dad and I was a major major letdown. I know that over the years Red Robin has changed quite significantly and it is now even more so of a family restaurant (nothing wrong with that whatsoever that's not the issue I have) but it was so loud in the restaurant tonight my dad and I couldn't even have a normal conversation. I ordered one of the new dragon fruit drinks on the menu and asked the server what it was like where she was very honest with me and said that it was a brand new drink it's only been out for about a week or so and that she typically gets to try new menu items when they come out and drinks when they come out but hadn't gotten to try the new drinks yet so she couldn't say what it was like so that was a let down for us but I got it anyways and I have to say that was the only good thing about my meal. We ordered the zucchini fries for a starter and they were so salty and so over seasoned that we couldn't even eat them we couldn't even finish them and they were just inedible and absolutely disgusting. Soggy on the inside but hot and significantly over seasoned on the outside. So so gross đ€ą for our entrees my dad had the California chicken burger and I had the whiskey river chicken wrap and asked for both the tortilla strips and crispy onions straws inside (there were neither). My dad said that his chicken was cold it tasted bland that there was no flavor to the Burger whatsoever. My wrap was cold, the chicken tasted rubbery there were no onion straws or tortilla strips there was a very minimal amount of sauce and there was a cold shredded bright orange cheese falling out of the wrap. Our server never checked on us to see how the first bites were or anything like if we needed refills on our drinks ,nothing. And yes like I understand it's a Saturday night and it's busy , but she had no problem checking on her other tables that were close to us. I'd have to say I will not be returning to red Robin and was really looking forward to tonight's dinner with my dad. The only reason I did eat my food was cus I was starving and there was no one available to complain to unfortunately. When the server did finally appear after our dishes were taken away by someone else and I asked for the cheque I did give her the criticism about the zucchini fries but didn't about our food cus there was no point at that point and I was so upset and disappointed with the lack of professionalism and attentiveness that I know red Robin is known for. Plus like I had mentioned it was very loud, our plates had already been taken away and it was very busy. Our server did say that she would pass on the suggestion about the zucchini fries to the kitchen, so at least that's something I guess đ€·đŒââïž But no I won't be returning and my dad said he won't be either , sorry...
Read moreBest burger Iâve had thereâbut mice mean I wonât be back.
We came in expecting a good meal, and to be fairâit started off great. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was calm (not busy at all), and I ordered the Honey Hot Chicken Sandwich for the first time. Iâd asked for it on a croissant bun, which I really enjoy, but I didnât realize it was missing until the main meal came out.
Before that, they brought out the fries and poutine ahead of the mains, which was fine by me. When our server checked on us, I replied cheerfully, âFantastic, thanks!â She noticed the empty fry baskets and said sheâd be back to grab themâbut never came back for them. No big deal, just one of those little things that stood out.
About halfway through the meal, a different person came by and asked how everything was. I told her in a fun way: âItâs the best burger Iâve had hereâbut it wouldâve been even better with the croissant.â She didnât say much, didn't even realize they had croissants, but passed the message on. A little later, our server returned, apologized, and admitted she forgot to press the croissant bun button. I appreciated the honesty, and I wasnât upset at allâthe burger really was excellent.
After we finished eating, she offered more poutine, and I asked instead for some crispy fries without the fixings. She happily said yes.
But then, as we sat waiting⊠we saw mice. Not just one. Running around the restaurant.
I quietly pointed one out to our server, and she nodded as if to say, âYeah, I know.â She told us pest control (Emco) was coming the next morning and that itâs hard to keep them out with the patio. That was honestly disheartening. If itâs a known issue, the restaurant shouldâve closed and done a deep cleanâbecause this is a food safety issue. Rodents in a restaurant are never acceptable, and health and hygiene should come first.
To me, it also confirmed something Iâve noticed for years: this location is in decline. The windows are blown out and unpresentable. The place just doesnât feel cared for. I miss the old atmosphere and the large ceiling fansâit now feels like they sold off what made it special to fund a quick, cheaper renovation.
In the end, I left with mixed feelings. The staff were kind. The food was great. But mice running around the restaurant is a line that canât be ignored.
I wonât be backânot until I know real changes have been made. This isnât about being picky. Itâs about safety, standards, and pride of place. And sadly, those are...
