We went for brunch. We put our names on the waiting list and was told it would be 40 mins. We waited outside. As we waited, we saw 3 empty tables and people walking in and they were seated. I asked a couple if they made reservations and they said no. I went inside and asked the host if they forgot about us and served others prior to honouring the wait list and they said the 40 mins are not up. That did not make sense at all! We went back outside to wait and within a minute they texted us to say our table is ready. It would have been better if they just apologized for the mistake and that they forgot rather than lying and making up that excuse. I ordered the Canadian Breakfast. Our very friendly server suggested the waffles as a choice and she was so right! They were light, fluffy and delicious. The coffee was good but cold. I asked for another cup. The two eggs came with string-like strands. 3-4 in each egg! I had to send them back because it freaked me out a bit. They explained it was the membrane of the egg and they usually take them out in the kitchen and should not have been served. I later did research and found out that it is called chalazae. I was disappointed that my breakfast was ruined as I received another two eggs with one strand again but was not going to make a fuss. It was gross. When they took my first plate away, I lost my bread. They didn't offer a discount or anything to apologize for the eggs and broken up breakfast. They could have at least comped me the coffee. Oh wel, I don't think the breakfast and coffee was $30. I'm not sure if I will return. It was over priced for the value. I can buy 12 fresh farm eggs from our farmers market for $9. And they never have strings in them. Somewhat disappointed. 3 stars for the food. 3 stars for the service and it had nothing to do with our server. It was the lie about having to wait the full 40 mins on the waiting list while others just walked in and we're seated. I wish they had a little more integrity. I did love the...
Read moreI was underwhelmed by my experience today and should have read some reviews before showing up. Breakfast is one of my favourite meals and I was excited to finally come in and try the extensive and mouthwatering menu.
We went at around 9:30am on a Sunday. No wait to be seated and the restaurant was beginning to fill up. The restaurant was clean, comfortable and the tables well kept.
Service was just average. Though our waiter was present at appropriate intervals, he was not particularly friendly and it felt like he was just going through the motions.
We ordered the Angus eggs benny, the sweet and salty crepe, a mango smoothie and a regular coffee. Luckily, we got our food and drinks shortly afterwards. The smoothie was fine and not too sweet. The coffee was a bit weak (it tasted a bit watery and didn't wake me up like my typical morning coffee) and I didn't know about the bottomless coffee, nor were we informed or offered any. On first impression, the food looked pretty standard but weirdly bordering like it had been waiting at the pass for too long. I thought the hollandaise sauce looked a bit congealed compared to the countless other eggs bennys I've had, except that I realize now that this is how it looks on most of the pictures posted. The two poached eggs that I got were inconsistent - one was nearly solid on the inside and the other one was barely runny like a ramen egg. Typically I'd expect it to be more medium to runny if they didn't ask. The tater tots were pretty good. My partner's crepe held together well and he thought it was fine. The food overall was well seasoned though, more on the salty side vs some other comments.
I would agree with other reviews that the food and service seems to be entirely mixed here and it depends heavily on who made the food and who serves you. I might come back to try something else only if asked by others...
Read moreFirst Opinion: I haven't really had a lot of time to go out with friends to eat or enjoy food. However, today I went with my father, brother, and friend (It was our first time here). We were told that there would be a 30 to 35 minute wait to be seated. My dad wasn't quite happy about this since my brother has a habit of complaining about things that take too long. I told him to give it the benefit of the doubt, and this was the best decision ever.
Service: I haven't remembered the name of our waitress but she was divine. She was so sweet and wouldn't scoff or get annoyed about how long we would take (Unlike other breakfast places). She was super careful about food choices and preferences when it came to allergies (Mind that my friend has a nut allergy). She told him that even tough they have peanut butter it was isolated away from other ingredients. My friend was delighted to hear this as usually he would have to say that he has an allergy (Sometimes also even forgetting to tell people himself), but the carefulness of our waitress was so satisfying.
Food: The food in question was the best part, with all the different food items hitting you like a wave.
Atmosphere: In terms of the atmosphere it was also great as my brother is restless all the time, however this location had tv's playing movie and shows which got him completely distracted from making a fuss about something.
Conclusion: Overall this experience was superb, as-well with the cost of the food being cheaper than competitors. This would have to be my favourite breakfast place by far and I would definitely recommend this to someone who needs a great food...
