Fantastic :D
Came here for a breakfast never heard of it before. From the moment we sat down we felt appreciated as a client of the restaurant. My girlfriend, my 1 year old son, and I were seated and the waiter proactively offered to give us some bread for my son to play with / eat while we adults ordered and waiting for food. I don't expect waiters to talk to my child - he's one. He's not going to say anything /care about what you say, but acknowledging that he is also still a client is fantastic when it happens. Throughout our meal the waiter (#18 says my receipt) checked on us a perfect amount of times and refilled our water without us even having to mention it. Thank you for the perfect service.
The food is amazing ; I got a sunrise (I think it's called?) omelette and my girlfriend got a breakfast poutine. When we ordered it the waiter proactively told us that the egg included in the poutine was sunny side by default and if that was ok (it says this in the menu but it's nice they thought we could have missed that detail).
My girlfriends poutine was potatoes cooked a certain style (they have a page in the menu explaining it - really yummy), ham, sausage bacon, caramelized onions with a breakfast gravy and cheese curds and the previously mentioned sunny side egg on top. She doesn't like sausage and the waiter recommended switching for more bacon (heck yes haha). She says it's the best poutine she ever had (we had gone to poutineville the day before and this topped that one). I agree ; the combination of flavors and textures proves its a well thought dish.
My meal was a pepper and onion omelette with salsa, 3 cheeses, sour cream and avocado sliced with those potatoes as well as 3 fruit (watermelon, grapefruit and pineapple) The eggs being the base I wasn't expecting to be anything special but the flavour and texture combination of the whole dish was incredible ; the peppers and onions are still crisp, the salsa you can tell is a house salsa and thankfully for my particular taste buds not hot. Added with the sour cream and avocado it was a great meal. I ordered a side of sausages but couldn't finish it because the portion size is great too.
My son loved the fruit haha.
I normally don't mention service to the front desk because it's only if it's above and beyond - this visit I did. Thank you for the best breakfast during our week long stay in Montreal! Keep up the...
Read moreI am absolutely disgusted by how my lady and I were treated on Monday. I am (now was) a regular at this place, and I tip really really well. I pay by card, and I choose the highest percentage on the tip screen wherever I go. I would come here at least 3 times a week - that’s more than the average regular customer. However, on Monday, I came in with my fiancée for breakfast. Two ladies (the wonderful two ladies with red hair) greeted us and we asked to be seated somewhere quiet, preferably on the top floor (as we wanted to discuss our wedding/travel plans over breakfast). The entire floor was empty - there was not a single customer there. I asked if we could sit at a booth, because it was more comfortable than the hard wooden white chairs. All the booths were empty, and the waitress seated us and brought us our menus. Then, the man who appears to be in charge (Asian appearance. Note: I am an Arab immigrant myself, and we’re all equals. I say Asian because I want the management to know exactly who I am talking about - and so that they don’t assume it was someone else). This man came upstairs and started shaking his head at the waitress who seated us. He then came over to our table, and in the rudest most disgusting tone said “I can’t have you sitting at a booth. You can sit at this table for two to three people.” We quietly got up and left the place to never return ever again. Not because we were told to sit at a smaller table, but because the way he spoke to us was very rude, demeaning and he spoke down to us. The right was to speak to a customer would be, for example, “Good morning. I’d love to be at your service at this other table. Let’s keep this booth available for larger groups in case we get busy really quickly” (even if the entire floor with all the other booths is empty). With a smile.” And we would have gladly moved. But unfortunately the man who spoke to me and my fiancée has poor ethics - and it is clear from the reviews that many people have had an issue with his manners in the past as well. We went to the nearby Ben & Florentine instead, and they not only sat us at a booth (without us even asking), but they also had great manners and customer service. Everyone there was smiling and vibrant. If management does nothing about this man’s conduct and choice of words with customers, eggspectation is basically telling its customers to go enjoy a meal...
