On our first morning in Montreal, we were mega stoked to scope out the perfect bagels in which I was stalking this joint out from it's stellar reviews and enticing photos of other peoples visits. It was bustling with regulars which is evidence of how good this place is. We got three bagels between two people at under ten bucks which was including extra condiments and was more than enough. We had to purchase extra condiments, how can you seriously have a bagel with strawberry Jelly but no peanut butter in the same sitting?! PBJ time always!! These were the best bagels I ever had and did not disappoint one bit, super yummy doughy and fresh tasting and bursting with flavor. Until now, I can only now positively say iv had REAL montreal-style bagels and completely understand the hype. Flavor preference ranked (I could eat Pumpkin and Cinnammon for days, but the Cinnamon and Raisan was a bland letdown):
Pumpkin and Cinnamon - So yummy I had to buy a six pack to take home!! Honey Oat Double Chocolate Banana Cinnamon and Raisan Cranberry and White Chocolate
The server was a super nice guy, extremely approachable and friendly making great recommendations and very knowledgeable about the store and its products. Incredible value for money in a clean and modern upscale eatery with a chilled, laidback and cozy vibe. As my only complaint or improvement, the eatery did not have a mix of compost and recyclables and only had garbage, as well as the peanut butter sachets are the standard Kraft brand containing palm oil etc. I think it'd be pretty easy, unique and a great idea to collaborate with a local business of some sort for delicious natural PB. I'd be concerned If I lived here that these are so good, I'd become half dude, half dough for sure. These are crazy doughy, chewy and almost rip your teeth from your gums as real bagels do but totally worth it. Their coffee Cappucino and Apple, Spinach and Advocado Juice are also super good. Read moreI had high expectations for my first time in Montreal with my boyfriend.
We were expecting a good bagel and coffee but ended up with a mid sandwich and a watered-down coffee…
The bagel was nothing impressive I got the smoked salmon and my boyfriend got the turkey and bacon- but they were pre-made and barely warmed.
The coffee is what ruined the experience for me.
I ordered two regular lattes. From the espresso shots i could tell it was watered down. Even with whole milk the coffee tasted like dog water. I opened the cup and the milk wasn’t even foamed nor was there any taste of the espresso. I went back and asked the chef himself to fix it- he offered to “add foam” but I just asked for ice coffee instead.
Instead of making a new coffee from scratch (since it was horrible) he just poured both of them over ice. I was in shock as we realized the coffee was still WARM with the ice and was our original coffees- not newly made ones.
We left disappointed and stopped by a real cafe to get the experience we were searching for. By the way, we spent $50 for both of us and i would never recommend this place to anyone- perhaps a tourist trap I suppose.
Take my warning graciously and go to...
Read moreI recently had a terrible experience here. The worker told us to do a combo with a salad leaving out the fact that the tiny salad was $8 each. Not only was this an unpleasant surprise, but the salad itself tasted absolutely disgusting. When we brought this to the attention of the worker, instead of offering a solution, they insisted on trying the food themselves and then refused to provide us with anything else. After much insistence, we were begrudgingly offered one of the cheapest bagels on the menu as a replacement for our unsatisfactory salads. The lack of transparency regarding the additional charge and the poor handling of our complaint left a sour taste in our mouths. Needless to say, we won't be returning and don’t waste your time and money coming here. Disgusting customer service. I also noticed responses to reviews about freshness saying they make the food fresh everyday, these salads were made 2 days ago. The worker told me it’s impossible it tastes gross because it was just made two days ago! That...
