Pizzeria Moretti Downtown — Restaurant in Montreal

I thought sweatpants were only unacceptable at fancy restaurants, but apparently, this pizzeria thinks they're too good for casual comfort wear. My boyfriend and I showed up on time for our reservation, only to be turned away at the door because of his sweatpants. The kicker? The dress code policy wasn't even written on their website, and the staff admitted they didn't communicate it either. I guess they expect us to be mind readers!

The staff didn't seem to care that we looked clean, smelled good, and were with my parents, who were visiting from out of town. I even had my cool full-length orange coat on, but I guess that wasn't enough to distract them from my boyfriend's sweatpants. We were ready to enjoy some delicious pizza, but instead, we got a lesson in high fashion.

It's like we stumbled into a 70s time warp, where sweatpants were only worn in the privacy of your own home. But to be fair, we did see someone leaving the restaurant in sweatpants after their meal. So either they were in cahoots with the staff or they got lucky.

In the end, we left feeling disrespected and disappointed. We won't be back, but if you're looking for a dress code challenge, give this pizzeria a try. Who knows, maybe you'll be lucky enough to wear your...

AVOID THIS RESTO. I am never ever dining here again. I would give it zero stars if I could. The service was ridiculous, and I work in a restaurant so I’m usually not picky about service, but the waitress was unbelievably rude for no reason. The portions are tiny and so overpriced. To pay $32 for six noodles? It’s outrageous. I came with a group of 5 people and everyone got drinks but me. I have a medical condition and I cannot drink. When I got my bill, I was shocked to see that I was charged $8 for aqua panna, which is bottled water. I didn’t even order this and was served tap water all night. I asked the waitress why I was charged for it and she said “oh it’s because you didn’t get a drink so we have to charge you for water” with a condescending smile before rolling her eyes and walking away. There was no transparency about this and I was the only one charged because I didn’t order a drink even though the rest of my group each ordered more than one drink. We had such high hopes for this restaurant as we love Italian food. We arrived early and were told we could have a table for 90 mins as the restaurant was booked. That was fine. We ordered a glass of wine each and it was good. We started with the polpette, we were served 3 for a table for two. Ok but a bit messy to share. They tasted ok. But did not really hold the sauce. They tasted as if they were cooked from frozen. Not fresh at all. We were never offered bread so all of the sauce was wasted. The main courses arrived. Tagliatelle bolognese. The sauce had very little meat and was very bland. The pasta was good and prepared correctly. We also tried the salmon. It was over salted and the skin was burned. The veg was overcooked and not very good. We asked for our bill but they wanted to give us dessert to make up for the meals. The dessert was good but without coffee or tea just didn't cut it.
